Wind River VxWorks RTOS v6.9 Features 64-bit Support

Wind River announced version 6.9 of VxWorks real-time operating system (RTOS). VxWorks 6.9 features 64-bit computing support (in data and code execution) and improved multi-core processing support in both symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) and asymmetrical multiprocessing (AMP) configurations. VxWorks 6.9 is the first commercial-grade RTOS to fully support 32-bit and 64-bit processing on Intel Architecture. VxWorks 6.9 will be available in March. 64-bit VxWorks RTOS is ideal for telecommunications (such as network infrastructure equipment), industrial and medical applications (like high-definition imagery), and aerospace and defense applications (like highly complex radar, sonar and sensors).

Emerson Network Power Embedded Development Kit

Emerson Network Power introduced the Embedded Development Kit (MATXM-CORE-411-WR). The Embedded Development Kit includes an Emerson Network Power MicroATX motherboard based on the Intel Core i7 processor with optimized trial versions of Wind River’s operating systems, development tools, embedded hypervisor and graphics software. Included in the Embedded Development Kit is a LiveUSB flash drive containing a host image and a configurable target image. Each kit also includes cables, a comprehensive startup guide, sample projects and tutorial videos.

AdaCore Ada Web Server for Wind River VxWorks

AdaCore rolled out Ada Web Server (AWS) for Wind River’s VxWorks Real-Time Operating System (RTOS). AWS for VxWorks, when used with the GNAT Pro development environment, enables developers to easily implement a user interface to embedded systems through regular web browsers. With AWS for VxWorks, users can connect through a direct TCP/IP link to board-level applications flike system control, configuration, and maintenance. The two-way interface is both lightweight and flexible. AWS for Wind River VxWorks is available now.

Wind River VxWorks Cert Platform

Wind River rolled out the Wind River VxWorks Cert Platform, which is a combination of the VxWorks DO-178B and IEC 61508 safety critical platforms. The Wind River VxWorks Cert Platform supports C++ and real-time processes (RTP). VxWorks Cert is ideal for safety critical applications that must be certified to the stringent requirements of RTCA DO-178B and EUROCAE ED-12B (Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification) and IEC 61508 and other related software standards. Wind River VxWorks Cert Platform is available now worldwide. The VxWorks DO-178B Platform and VxWorks 61508 Platform will no longer be availabe as separate, standalone platforms.

Kontron nanoETXexpress Starterkit for Wind River VxWorks

Kontron announced the nanoETXexpress Starterkit for the latest VxWorks platform. The starter kit is pre-configured with the Kontron nanoETXexpress-SP Computer-on-Module, featuring the Intel Atom Z530 (1.6GHz) processor, and is validated by the Wind River Partner Validation Program for use with VxWorks. The Kontron nanoETXexpress-SP Starterkit for VxWorks helps developers to address critical issues such as integration costs, time-to-market, and long-term support, right from the start of platform evaluation.

Wind River VxWorks 653 Platform, Version 2.3

Wind River introduced VxWorks 653 Platform, version 2.3. The latest release of VxWorks 653 features board support packages (BSPs) for the Curtiss-Wright Controls VPX6-185 and the Wind River SBC8641D boards. The RTOS extends hardware support to Intel 32-bit processor architectures, including a BSP for the GE Intelligent Platforms V7768 board. VxWorks 653 Platform now also provides a new power-fail safe DO-178B file system. The real-time operating system for controlling complex, safety-critical ARINC 653 Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) systems is available now.

Wind River Hypervisor v1.1

Wind River rolled up version 1.1 of the Wind River Hypervisor embedded virtualization solution for single and multicore processors. Wind River Hypervisor v1.1 supports the latest Intel processors and enables new inter-virtual machine communication capabilities. In addition, debugging of virtual boards is now supported by the latest version of Wind River On-Chip Debugging.

Wind River VxWorks DO-178B Platform for Aerospace and Defense Systems

Wind River and Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing introduced the latest VxWorks DO-178B Platform, which is designed to meet the stringent safety certification requirements of the aerospace and defense industry. The new release of VxWorks DO-178B includes complete DO-178B Level A certification evidence for a reference board support package (BSP) for the SVME/DMV-183 single board computer and additional processor support for Intel Core 2 Duo IA-32 and Power Architecture e600 cores.
