Wind River VxWorks RTOS v6.9 Features 64-bit Support

Wind River announced version 6.9 of VxWorks real-time operating system (RTOS). VxWorks 6.9 features 64-bit computing support (in data and code execution) and improved multi-core processing support in both symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) and asymmetrical multiprocessing (AMP) configurations. VxWorks 6.9 is the first commercial-grade RTOS to fully support 32-bit and 64-bit processing on Intel Architecture. VxWorks 6.9 will be available in March. 64-bit VxWorks RTOS is ideal for telecommunications (such as network infrastructure equipment), industrial and medical applications (like high-definition imagery), and aerospace and defense applications (like highly complex radar, sonar and sensors).

AdaCore Ada Web Server for Wind River VxWorks

AdaCore rolled out Ada Web Server (AWS) for Wind River’s VxWorks Real-Time Operating System (RTOS). AWS for VxWorks, when used with the GNAT Pro development environment, enables developers to easily implement a user interface to embedded systems through regular web browsers. With AWS for VxWorks, users can connect through a direct TCP/IP link to board-level applications flike system control, configuration, and maintenance. The two-way interface is both lightweight and flexible. AWS for Wind River VxWorks is available now.

FemtoLinux – Linux for Real-time Embedded Systems

FemtoLinux is a new Linux flavor optimized for real-time embedded systems. With FemtoLinux, critical Linux applications run in kernel mode. This results a low system call and interrupt-to-application latency and overhead. FemtoLinux also simplifies RTOS-to-Linux porting significantly — RTOS applications can be ported to embedded Linux without drastic changes to the software architecture. FemtoLinux is available now for the ARM architecture. MIPS and PowerPC ports are in the works.

Kontron announced the nanoETXexpress Starterkit for the latest VxWorks platform. The starter kit is pre-configured with the Kontron nanoETXexpress-SP Computer-on-Module, featuring the Intel Atom Z530 (1.6GHz) processor, and is validated by the Wind River Partner Validation Program for use with VxWorks. The Kontron nanoETXexpress-SP Starterkit for VxWorks helps developers to address critical issues such as integration costs, time-to-market, and long-term support, right from the start of platform evaluation.

Wind River VxWorks DO-178B Platform for Aerospace and Defense Systems

Wind River and Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing introduced the latest VxWorks DO-178B Platform, which is designed to meet the stringent safety certification requirements of the aerospace and defense industry. The new release of VxWorks DO-178B includes complete DO-178B Level A certification evidence for a reference board support package (BSP) for the SVME/DMV-183 single board computer and additional processor support for Intel Core 2 Duo IA-32 and Power Architecture e600 cores.

Wind River VxWorks 6.8 Real-time Operating System

Wind River introduced version 6.8 of the VxWorks real-time operating system (RTOS) for embedded systems. VxWorks 6.8 features improvements in multicore support and fundamental operating system features, decreased time-to-market while lowering costs, and improved quality for device manufacturers. VxWorks 6.8 is available now worldwide as part of VxWorks Edition 3.8.

Aonix ObjectAda Real-Time Targets Intel x86 Running Wind Rivers VxWorks

Aonix launched ObjectAda Real-Time 8.4 for Windows. The release targets Intel x86 architecture embedded and real-time systems running the Wind River VxWorks real-time operating system (RTOS). ObjectAda Real-Time for Windows x Intel/VxWorks consists of a fully compliant ACATS 2.5 Ada 95 compiler plus supporting tools. It is compatible with Wind River’s VxWorks environment, which comprises the VxWorks operating system and the VxWorks cross development toolset. ObjectAda Real-Time targeting the Intel x86 architecture running Wind Rivers’ VxWorks is immediately available.

Wind River and PrismTech Software Defined Radio Solution

Wind River teamed with PrismTech to develop a high-performance software defined radio (SDR) solution for the military and public sectors. According to testing conducted by PrismTech, the combined SDR solution has demonstrated breakthrough performance on multiple processors from Freescale and Intel, including round trip times of less than 10 seconds to power up, initialize the platform, load waveform components, unload waveform components, and shut down the radio. The Wind River and PrismTech SDR solution is immediately available to customers worldwide.
