Ambarella announced the A7L-A family of automotive camera System on Chip (SoCs) and reference designs. The A7L-A family combines full HD dual-view recording with excellent video quality. It offers excellent image quality for capturing license plates and other details, even in low light conditions. The A7L-A family of SoCs and reference designs are available now.
Ambarella announced the A9 camera System on Chip. The SoC supports the new 4K Ultra HD video resolution at 30 frames per second. It features dual core ARM Cortex-A9 CPUs, 32nm CMOS technology, and low power consumption. The Ambarella A9 SoC is available now for qualified customers. It is ideal for creating cameras with advanced fast-action video features, exceptional still image quality, and full wireless connectivity.
Conexant Systems launched their CX92161 system-on-chip. The CX92161 SoC is optimized for laser single-function printers (SFPs) and thermal label printers. The new Conexant IC features a 32-bit microprocessor core, embedded double data rate (DDR) synchronous dynamic random access memory (SDRAM), and enhanced printer engine direct control features. The CX92161 system-on-chip is sampling now. Volume production is scheduled for the third quarter of 2012. The CX92161 is priced at $10 each in 10K quantities.
Conexant Systems introduced the CX20708 super wideband (SWB) voice input processor system-on-chip (SoC). The Conexant CX20708 features high-fidelity 16-bit ADC, microphone pre-amp, asynchronous sample rate converter, sync buffer and digital signal processor. Samples of the CX20708 samples are available now. The Conexant chip is packaged in an environmentally friendly, RoHS/green-compliant 9×9 millimeter 76-pin quad flat no-lead package. Prototype pricing is $3.00 in 1K quantities.
PMC-Sierra introduced the PM6373 POLO 40G System-on-Chip for coherent optical networking. The SoC is a single chip CMOS coherent DP-(D)QPSK transmission transceiver. The PMC-Sierra PM6373 POLO 40G features chromatic dispersion (CD), polarization mode dispersion (PMD), second order PMD (SOP), and high-rate polarization tracking. The device will sample later this year. The POLO 40G is implemented in 40nm CMOS technology and packaged in a 480-pin 23mm x 23mm FCBGA package.
PMC-Sierra introduced the PAS6500 System-on-Chip (SoC) family of EPON ONU devices. The PMC-Sierra PAS6500 family consists of the PAS6502 for data and voice-over-IP (VoIP) Single-Family Units (SFUs), the PAS6500 for data SFUs, and the PAS6501 for Multiple Dwelling Units (MDUs). EPON ONU devices feature integrated Optical Analog Front End (OAFE) technology. The PAS6500 samples and reference designs are available now. The chips are ideal for Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) applications.
Marvell introduced the Avastar 88W8797 802.11n 2×2 dual-band Wi-Fi System-on-Chip (SoC). The Avastar 88W8797 features Wi-Fi Tx beamforming technology, Bluetooth 4.0 low energy capabilities, FM Tx/Rx, and supports high data rates. The Avastar 88W8797 is a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) combination radio with advanced power management designed for handheld products like smartphones and tablets.
Ronetix introduced the PM9G45 computer-on-module. The SODIMM-sized CPU module features the Atmel’s ARM926-based AT91SAM9G45 system-on-chip (SoC), 128MB DDR2, 256MB NAND Flash, 10/100Mbps Ethernet MAC controller, USB Host and On-The-Go ports, four USART interfaces, dual high-speed multi media card interfaces. The PM9G45 have a touch screen controller and a LCD controller that supports resolutions up to 800×600 pixels. The SODIMM-sized board measures only 2.6 by 1.3 inches (67x35mm). Ambarella introduced the A7 system-on-chip (SoC) for advanced hybrid still and video cameras. The A7 delivers features 528-MHz ARM11 CPU, full HD 1080p60 or 4Mp30 H.264 video recording, high-speed 500Mpixels/second capture capability, smooth slow-motion replay, high dynamic range (HDR) processing, image stabilization, both DIS and EIS, and rolling shutter correction for CMOS sensors. The A7 can simultaneously encode a full HD stream while encoding a second stream for upload to the Internet or for streaming over WiFi. The Ambarella A7 SoC and hybrid camera reference design kit and SDK are available now.
Texas Instruments (TI) introduced the new TMS320DM8168 DaVinci video system-on-chip (SoC). The DM8168 consolidates all of the capture, compression, display and control functionalities of a high definition (HD), multi-channel system on a single chip. The DaVinci video SoC features a 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 and a 1 GHz TI C674x digital signal processor (DSP) core. The DM8168 reduces system electronic bill of materials (eBOM) costs by 50%. It replaces the functionality of over 10 discrete components. The DM8168 DaVinci video SoC will begin sampling in the second quarter.
