Microchip Technology and Kalki Communication Technologies (Kalkitech) teamed together to optimize a Device Language Message Specification (DLMS) protocol stack for 16-bit PIC microcontrollers (MCUs). The DLMS stack is available now. It is available in four flavors: DLMS Evaluation Library (free evaluation version), DLMS-lite Stack ($3,900 for 5k units), DLMS Stack ($4,800 for 5k units), and DLMS Explorer ($2,800 each).
Microchip Technology and Powercast introduced the Lifetime Power Energy Harvesting Development Kit for Wireless Sensors featuring PIC microcontrollers with eXtreme Low Power (XLP) Technology. The kit features a 3-watt Powercaster transmitter power source, two P2110 Powerharvester receiver evaluation boards, two custom-designed wireless sensor boards, the XLP 16-bit Development Board pre-loaded with jointly developed application software, and an IEEE 802.15.4 transceiver. The included transmitter can wirelessly power sensor devices from more than 40 feet away. The Lifetime Power Energy Harvesting Development Kit for Wireless Sensors is available now for $1250.
Microchip Technology introduced their Digital LED Lighting Development Kit. The Digital LED Lighting Development Kit enables engineers to develop LED lighting products with a dsPIC33 GS Digital Signal Controller (DSC). Designers can create a 100% digitally controlled ballast function while including features like dimming and color hue control. Complete documentation for Microchip’s Digital LED Lighting Development Kit, including software and Gerber files, can be downloaded for free.
