Renesas RX62T Microcontrollers

Renesas Technology America introduced the RX62T series of microcontrollers (MCU). The RX62T microcontrollers enable embedded systems engineers to offer eco-features for consumer, industrial, and HVAC equipment. The RX62T mcu is ideal for applications such as solar inverters, air conditioners, washing machines, lighting controllers, and power-factor controllers. The 100MHz RX62T microcontrollers are sampling now. Pricing is $3.35 (10K quantity) for the R5F562T7BDFM version (RX62T MCU with 128KB main flash, 8KB data flash, and 8KB SRAM in an LQFP64 package).

Reconfigurable Multi-Standard Wireless Transceiver in 40nm CMOS

imec, Renesas Technology, and M4S announced a complete transceiver with RF, baseband, and data converter circuits in 40nm low-power CMOS. The fully reconfigurable transceiver is compatible with various wireless standards and applications, including the upcoming mobile broadband 3GPP-LTE standard. In a next phase of imec’s ‘green radio’ research program, the focus will be on further reducing the bill of materials and energy consumption by continuing the research on digitally-inspired SAW-less transceivers and power efficient transmitters.

Renesas SH74552 and SH74562 Microcontrollers

Renesas Technology introduced the SH74552 and SH74562 32-bit MCUs for advanced driver assistance system applications that are needed in automobile “active safety” systems for obstacle detection, risk avoidance, etc. The SH74552 and SH74562 MCUs feature a compact 13 mm × 13 mm package, 160 MHz high-speed operation, 1 MB of high-speed on-chip flash memory, and on-chip functions such as 4-channel CAN. The SH74552 microcontroller is priced at $100 and the SH74562 is priced at $89. Sample shipments will begin in May, 2010 in Japan.

Renesas R8A20410BG Ternary Content Addressable Memory

Renesas Technology America announced the R8A20410BG, which is the first member of the TCAM (Ternary CAM) Series. The R8A20410BG TCAM has a capacity of 20 Mbits and a high-speed search performance of up to 360 MSPS (mega-searches per second)/Table. The R8A20410BG allows expansion up to 40 Mbits through cascade connections. The package is a 576-pin FCBGA (flip chip BGA) measuring 27 mm × 27 mm. Sample shipments will begin this month.

Renesas MS7724 Multimedia Platform for SH-Mobile R2R

The MS7724 is the first product in the Renesas Multimedia Solution line of system development Linux platforms. Each features an SH-Mobile R Series application processor; provides enhanced functionality, reduced cost, and greater compactness than previous evaluation and development boards; and includes Linux software necessary for system development in a single package. The first product to be released is the MS7724 platform for the SH-Mobile R2R (SH7724). Shipments began last month in Japan.

Renesas SH7777 SoC Devices for Car Navigation and Infotainment Systems

Renesas Technology America introduced the SH7777 (SH-NaviJ3) system-on-chip (SoC) device for compact portable navigation and infotainment systems and low- and mid-priced dashboard-mounted car navigation and infotainment systems. It speeds up development through OpenGL ES1.1 support and offers enhanced multimedia functions such as terrestrial digital TV broadcast support. The SH-NaviJ3 makes it possible for developers to create AV navigation and infotainment systems that combine low cost and compact size in less time. Sample shipments began in Japan this month. The SH7777 (R8A77770DA01BG) is available for $35 (440-pin BGA).
