Freescale Semiconductor announced the QorIQ P5 64-bit Power Architecture platform. The P5 platform features the e5500 core and is ideal for high-end control and data plane applications in networking, enterprise storage, security appliance, data center and aerospace/defense markets. The single-core 64-bit P5010 and the dual-core 64-bit P5020 processors will be the first products in the new QorIQ P5 communications platform. Simulated models of the P5020 and P5010 are expected in July 2010. Initial samples are planned for Q4 2010, and qualification is expected in 2H 2011.
Freescale Semiconductor launched their QorIQ P3041 communications processors. Key features include a three-level cache hierarchy for optimized latencies, a hardware hypervisor for robust support of multiple operating systems within the device, a trusted boot architecture to ensure code is not tampered with or reverse engineered, efficient data path handling, and improved Serial RapidIO and SATA IP. The P3041 communications processor is scheduled to start sampling in Q4 2010 with qualification planned for 2H 2011.
Emerson Network Power announced the COMX-P2020 and COMX-P4080 modular single board computers (SBCs). The COMX-P2020 and COMX-P4080 COM Express modules feature Freescale QorIQ P2020 and P4080 multicore processors. The COMX-P2020 and COMX-P4080 boards support a range of embedded operating systems including RTOS from Green Hills Software, Lynuxworks, Mentor Graphics, QNX, and Wind River.
GE Intelligent Platforms introduced the IMP3A, which is a 3U CompactPCI single board computer. The IMP3A SBC features the latest dual core QorIQ processor technology from Freescale. The IMP3A supports the QorIQ P2010 single core processor and the QorIQ P2020 dual core processor, operating at up to 1.2GHz. Both symmetric and asymmetric processing are supported, enabling engineers to scale performance through either thread-level or application-level parallelism. A typical IMP3A application is a control system onboard a tank, armored vehicle or helicopter.
American Portwell Technology introduced the CAK-2000 1U rackmount network appliance. The CAK-2000 features the Freescale QorIQ P2020 communications processor, Power Architecture core, SOI technology, high single-thread performance per watt, and dual-core frequency up to 1.2 GHz. American Portwell’s CAK-2000 rackmount network appliance is ideal for network security (such as IDS/IPS, firewall, IPSec, VPN, deep packet inspection, anti-spam, anti-virus and UTM), network management (such as routers, RAS gateways, QoS, server-load balance, wireless controller and streaming), and telecommunications and industrial and military applications.
Freescale Semiconductor announced the QorIQ P1012 and P1021 processors. The QorIQ P1012/P1021 product family features QUICC Engine multiprotocol technology. They offers a high-performance, low-power migration path to all-IP environments for legacy multiprotocol interfaces. Both processors are expected to sample in January 2010, with broad sampling planned for Q2 2010. Production quantities are expected in December 2010. Development boards and third party enablement tools are available for the P1012 and P1021 devices to streamline development.
