PMC-Sierra introduced the PM6373 POLO 40G System-on-Chip for coherent optical networking. The SoC is a single chip CMOS coherent DP-(D)QPSK transmission transceiver. The PMC-Sierra PM6373 POLO 40G features chromatic dispersion (CD), polarization mode dispersion (PMD), second order PMD (SOP), and high-rate polarization tracking. The device will sample later this year. The POLO 40G is implemented in 40nm CMOS technology and packaged in a 480-pin 23mm x 23mm FCBGA package.
PMC-Sierra introduced the PAS6500 System-on-Chip (SoC) family of EPON ONU devices. The PMC-Sierra PAS6500 family consists of the PAS6502 for data and voice-over-IP (VoIP) Single-Family Units (SFUs), the PAS6500 for data SFUs, and the PAS6501 for Multiple Dwelling Units (MDUs). EPON ONU devices feature integrated Optical Analog Front End (OAFE) technology. The PAS6500 samples and reference designs are available now. The chips are ideal for Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) applications.
PMC-Sierra introduced their SynthePHY family of integrated dual channel 6Gb/s SERDES and programmable clock synthesizer solutions optimized for wireless infrastructure radio designs. The SynthePHY devices feature 30 clock outputs that can be programmed over a wide frequency band, ranging from 3MHz to 1.6GHz and meet the phase noise performance required by multi-carrier GSM, WCDMA and LTE systems. The devices are rated for industrial temperature operation (-40 to +85 degrees Celsius). The SynthePHY family includes the PM7501 SynthePHY 6G and PM7520 SyntheCLK devices. PMC-Sierra introduced the PAS65823A-KIT pluggable GPON Optical Network Terminal (ONT) reference design. The PAS65823A-KIT pluggable ONT reference design enables OEMs and ODMs to easily and cost-effectively connect any customer premises equipment (CPE) using a standard SFP port to a high-speed Passive Optical Network (PON) without any hardware or software redesign. PMC-Sierra rolled out the PM5422 META 20G device for Carrier Ethernet Switch and Router (CESR) equipment. The META 20G connects Carrier Ethernet Switch and Router (CESR) equipment to Metro Optical Transport Networks (ITU-T G.709 OTN). The PM5422 META 20G integrates Carrier Ethernet mapping and framing of 10GE LAN and WAN, and OTN mapping of IP-services such as Storage Area Networks (SAN) and video protocols, while maintaining support for deployed technologies such as Packet over SONET/SDH (POS). The PM5422 META 20G devices are available in 27mm x 27mm 672 ball FCBGA packages.
