Atmel introduced the SAM9M10e ARM926EJ-based embedded microprocessor (MPU). The SAM9M10e integrates a video decoder and 2D acceleration (scaling, rotating, color space conversion, picture in picture) to provide high-quality video performance in industrial embedded applications. The SAM9M10 is ideal for media rich display and control panels in application segments such as home and commercial buildings, POS (Point of Sale) terminals, entertainment systems, Internet appliances, and medical.
Texas Instruments introduced the AM3505 and AM3517 ARM microprocessors (MPU). The AM35x devices offer multiple device packages, industrial temperature options, peripheral integration, graphics capabilities and high computational performance at sub-one Watt power levels. The new MPUsenable industrial designers to build fanless and completely air-tight embedded systems that can endure rigorous operating environments. The two MPUs are sampling in 0.65mm BGA and 1mm BGA package options. The XAM3505ZCN is priced at USD $21.45 and the XAM3517ZCN is available for $24 (1,000 units). Designers can use the $999 TMDXEVM3517 evaluation module with a Linux Software Development Kit to speed development. Windows Embedded CE support is planned for 4Q09 and additional operating systems and RTOS are planned for 1Q 2010.
