Radiocrafts introduced the low cost RC2400 and RC2400HP RF modules. The RC2400 and RC2400HP modules are designed for ZigBee PRO, 6LoWPAN, and other protocols based on IEEE 802.15.4. The IEEE 802.15.4 modules and demo kits are available now. A ZigBee PRO compliant stack is available free of charge. The RC2400 and RC2400HP RF modules are ideal for smart meter reading (AMR, AMI, Smart Grid), building automation, health care, and wireless sensor networks/M2M.
Taiwan Commate Computer Inc. (COMMELL) introduced the MPX-643 IEEE 1394b PCI Express mini card. The MPX-643 is based on LSI’s FW643 device, which is a single-chip solution integrating PCI Express bus and 1394b functions. MPX-643 offers one 400Mbits/1394a and two 800Mbits/1394b ports for high-speed connectivity that provides plug and play for FireWire devices and peripherals for Windows operating systems. The OS will detect the card presence and load appropriate drivers automatically. Driver for Linux is also available.
NEC Electronics announced the µPD78F8056 (64 KB), µPD78F8057 (96 KB), and µPD78F8058 (128 KB) 16-bit All Flash microcontrollers (MCUs). The new microcontrollers feature embedded IEEE802.15.4-compliant 2.4 gigahertz (GHz) radio frequency (RF) transceiver for ZigBee RF4CE. The new microcontrollers come with 56 pins and 8x8mm quad flat no-leads (QFN) packages. The µPD78F8056, µPD78F8057, and µPD78F8058 MCUs are ideal for RF remote control and provide the lowest level of power consumption in the industry.
