Analog Devices announced the ADXRS450 iMEMS gyroscope with digital output for angular rate (rotational) sensing in harsh environments. The device features a differential quad-sensor design that enables it to operate accurately under intense shock and vibration conditions. The ADXRS450 iMEMS gyroscope is sampling now with volume production scheduled for December 2010. The ADXRS450 comes in a small 16-lead plastic SOIC package and an SMT-compatible ceramic vertical-mount package. The ADXRS450 is priced at $43.16 per unit (SOIC) and $57.07 per unit (SMT) in 1,000-unit quantities.
STMicroelectronics rolled out the L3G4200DH 3-axis digital-output gyroscope. The L3G4200DH motion sensor features a FIFO (first-in first-out) memory block for smarter power management. The FIFO memory block stores up to 96 levels, split in 32 sample sets of x-, y-, and z-axis data. The FIFO can be programmed for several different operating modes to raise a dedicated watermark (reference) interrupt when the memory is filled to a desired level. Volume production is scheduled for mid Q3 2010 and the unit price is $2.9 in quantities of 200,000 pieces.
