VIA Technologies introduced the quad core VAB-820 Pico-ITX embedded ARM board. The VAB-820 module features a 1GHz quad core Freescale iMX 6Quad ARM Cortex-A9 processor. Lantronix released their xPico Wi-Fi module. The tiny M2M wi-fi board is a compact, embedded wireless device server. It is designed for easy and fast machine-to-Wi-Fi connectivity. The xPico Wi-Fi module features simultaneous access point and client functionality. This enables the creation of its own secure Wi-Fi network for direct access as well as maintaining a Wi-Fi client connection to the existing Wi-Fi network. Radicom Research introduced the RW8200 Embedded Serial to WiFi Modules. The board integrates a M3 Cortex host processor, Broadcom’s BCM44362 Wireless Internet Connectivity for Embedded Devices (WICED) and an embedded processor. Kontron introduced the KTQ87/mITX embedded Mini-ITX motherboard. The KTQ87/mITX features the fourth generation Intel Core i7/i5/i3 processors and the Intel Embedded Q87 chipset. The new Kontron embedded Mini-ITX motherboard KTQ87/mITX is available now in EFT quantities. Series production is scheduled to start in Q3 2013. The board is ideal for industrial automation, medical, gaming and digital signage.
Kontron announced their COMe-cTH6 COM Express Computer-on-Module. The COMe-cTH6 features the AMD Embedded R-Series accelerated processing unit (APU), AMD A70M Fusion Controller Hub, up to 8GB DDR3 RAM, seven PCI Express x1 lanes, PEG x8 interface, four SATA 3 ports, Gigabit Ethernet and four USB 2.0 ports. The Kontron COM Express compact Computer-on-Modules COMe-cTH6 supports Windows, Linux, and VxWorks.
eSOL has completed prototype development of a real-time OS (RTOS) for many-core processors, tentatively called Many-Core real-time OS (MCOS). According to eSOL, MCOS will be the world’s first commercial RTOS for embedded many-core processors. eSOL’s MCOS is currently in use on the Renesas Electronics RH850-based MPU implemented on FPGAs with 16 hardware threads in four CPU cores (the virtual equivalent of 16 CPUs).
Kontron announced their ETX-OH T16R Computer-on-Module. The ETX-OH T16R features the new AMD Embedded G-Series APU T16R, up to 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, Fast Ethernet, USB 2.0, optional micro-USB port on-board and HD Audio. Habey announced the BIS-6632A embedded system. The BIS-6632A features the Intel Atom N2800 or D25500 processor, six COM ports, dual Intel Gigabit Ethernet ports, two PCIe slots with SIM option, and POE (Power Over Ethernet). The Habey BIS-6632A is a small footprint system based on the Thin Mini-ITX form factor. Moxa introduced their MiiNePort W1 embedded serial-to-wireless module. The MiiNePort W1 embedded wireless module provides IEEE 802.11 b/g wireless connectivity to serial devices.
