Texas Instruments introduced the TMP103 digital temperature sensor. The TI TMP103 features a two-wire interface that is compatible with both I2C and SMBus interfaces. Up to eight TMP103′s can be tied together in parallel and easily read by the host. The TMP103 sensor consumes 97% less power and is 75% smaller than the next closest competitor. The TMP103 is available now in a 0.76-mm x 0.76-mm four-ball wafer chip-scale package (WCSP). It is priced at $0.39 in 1,000-unit quantities.
