GE Intelligent Platforms introduced the 6U OpenVPX CUDA Starter Kit. The GE 6U CUDA Starter Kit is designed for GPGPU (general purpose computing on a graphics processing unit) technology for rugged, size/weight-constrained, deployed mission computing applications such as radar, sonar, image processing, signals intelligence and ISR (intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance). The kit is a complete, integrated, pre-tested hardware and software development environment. A 3U OpenVPX CUDA Starter Kit is also available.
HawkBoard is an open source embedded processor development board. The HawkBoard features an ARM and digital signal processor (DSP). It has multiple expansion and interface options to enable engineers and developers to create end-use applications such as portable test and measurement systems, portable medical devices, public safety and military radios, power protection systems, networked audio/video servers and receivers, VoIP solutions and Qt development applications. The HawkBoard is now available worldwide for 73.69 pounds ($108.86).
SchmartBoard introduced the Texas Instruments Microcontroller Development SchmartModule. The suggested retail for the boards is $30. The single development board supports Texas Instruments’ ultra-low power MSP430, ARM Cortex-M3-based Stellaris and real-time control C2000 MCU platforms. During the month of July only, the product will be sold at the SchmartBoard website for $15.
The 1GHz pocket-size BeagleBoard-xM embedded community development board is based on the Texas Instruments (TI) Sitara AM37x MPU. The board features an on-board USB hub, Ethernet, and 512MB of memory. The BeagleBoard-xM enables engineers to run multiple applications on a fully loaded open platform, including the smooth operation of open source office applications such as OpenOffice.org and Firefox. Developers can also perform native development of various operating systems, such as Ubuntu. The BeagleBoard-xM (Digi-Key part number 296-25798-ND) is priced at $179.
The Kontron OM6060 MicroTCA platform is a compact and modular development platform. It is ideal for prototypes in test equipment, packet processing and industrial applications. The OM6060 supports multiple CPUs with I/O-boards over PCIExpress (PCIe) without need of an extra PCIe fabric switch. PCIe fabric clocks are generated on the OM6060 backplane. The Kontron OM6060 is configured for the design, evaluation, and test of small, compact, and highly integrated multiprocessor systems.
Express Logic introduced ThreadX/SMP RTOS for the MIPS32 1004K Coherent Processing System (CPS). ThreadX/SMP is an enhanced version of ThreadX. It provides synchronous multicore support that preserves real-time responsiveness called Real-Time SMP. ThreadX/SMP enables developers to take advantage of the performance boost of sharing the processing load over the multiple processor cores of the 1004K CPS while maintaining the real-time responsiveness critical to demanding embedded applications. ThreadX/SMP is available in full source code form, royalty-free, with project license prices starting at $15,500.
Texas Instruments (TI) announced the DM368EUCDK embedded USB camera development kit and DM368ECDK embedded communications development kit. The embedded video development kits feature interactive HD video communications, improved image quality, and intelligent video encoding. The embedded development kits also provide up to a 5 times reduction in encoding bit rate for improved video quality and network bandwidth. The DM368EUCDK is priced at USD $795 and the DM368ECDK is priced at USD $1,195.
e-con Systems rolled out the Alioth Rapid Development kit for the eSOM300 system on module. The Alioth PXA300 Development Board is a dual board solution that features an eSOM300 computer on module and carrier board. The eSOM300 computer on module consists of an XScale PXA300 ultra low power microprocessor, MDDR SDRAM, flash memory, power management IC, LCD daughter card with 4.3″ / 7″ TFT, Ethernet, camera interface.
