Axiomtek announced the SHB103 PICMG 1.3 single board computer (SBC). The SHB103 SBC supports the Intel Core i7, Core i5, Core i3, and Pentium (G6950) processors with LGA1156 socket. The SHB103 features Intel Turbo Boost technology, Intel Hyper-Threading technology (Intel HT technology), QuickPath, 8GB DDR3 1066/1333 memory, and PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot. The SHB103 single board computer will be available in early July, 2010. The all-in-one embedded solution is ideal for gaming, DSA (Digital Signage Appliance), DVR (Digital Video Recorder), industrial automation, visual inspection instrument, and NC machine.
Freescale Semiconductor launched the MSC825x family of programmable digital signal processors (DSPs). Prices start at a suggested resale price of $75 (USD) in quantities of 1,000. Samples are planned for this quarter and production is planned for the third quarter. The MSC825x DSPs are ideal for medical, aerospace, defense, test, and measurement applications.
Toshiba America Electronic Components (TAEC) introduced the TMPM380 32-bit microcontroller (MCU). The TMPM380 MCU is ideal for cookers, pumps, compressors, motors or any system controlled by inverters or discrete power devices. Engineering samples of the TMPM380 microcontroller are available now. Mass production is scheduled to begin in Q3 2010. The TMPM380 family pricing starts with the TMPM382FSFG (64K Flash / 8K SRAM) at $1.90 per unit in 10,000 unit quantities.
Texas Instruments (TI) introduced the new TMS320DM8168 DaVinci video system-on-chip (SoC). The DM8168 consolidates all of the capture, compression, display and control functionalities of a high definition (HD), multi-channel system on a single chip. The DaVinci video SoC features a 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 and a 1 GHz TI C674x digital signal processor (DSP) core. The DM8168 reduces system electronic bill of materials (eBOM) costs by 50%. It replaces the functionality of over 10 discrete components. The DM8168 DaVinci video SoC will begin sampling in the second quarter.
Axiomtek announced the NA-823 1U rackmountable network appliance platform. The NA-823 features up to six Gigabit Ethernet ports, support for the Intel Core 2 Quad and Core 2 Duo processors, 800/1066/1333 MHz front side bus, Intel Q35 Express chipset, and two DDR2 667/800 slots (support up to 4GB of system memory). The RoHS compliant Axiomtek NA-823 will be available in April, 2010. The NA-823 is a ideal for embedded box applications.

RadiSys introduced the rugged Procelerant CEQM57XT COM Express module. The CEQM57XT module combines the Intel Core i7 and i5 processors and the Mobile Intel QM57 Express chipset with extended temperature range (from -25 to 70 degrees Celsius) and ruggedized vibration specifications. The Procelerant CEQM57XT is ideal for mil/aero and industrial applications such as ruggedized computers/tablets, unmanned vehicles/robots and in-vehicle computers. The RadiSys CEQM57XT COM Express module production shipment is planned for the second quarter.

DDC-I will make their Deos safety-critical real-time operating system and OpenArbor development tool suite available for applications using AMCC’s (now AppliedMicro) PowerPC 440 core. Deos and OpenArbor will also be available out of the box for Embedded Planet’s EP440C single-board computer, which provides a development and prototyping environment for applications targeting the PowerPC 440EP processor.
