Microchip Technology released the next generation SMSC JukeBlox Wi-Fi connectivity platform. The product includes the JukeBlox 3.1-AAP Software Development Kit (SDK) and the new CX875 Wi-Fi Network Media Module. Samples of the CX875 with JB3.1-AAP are available now. Production orders will be accepted in December 2012. Production pricing for the CX875 with JB3.1-AAP is $15.50 each (in quantities of 25,000 units per year).
Microchip Technology introduced their Wi-Fi Comm Demo Board. The new product features a Microchip 32-bit PIC32 microcontroller and a low-power MRF24WB0MA agency-certified, IEEE 802.11, embedded Wi-Fi radio transceiver module. The demo board makes it easy to evaluate and integrate the combination of Microchip’s Wi-Fi solutions and 32-bit MCUs in one compact and cost-effective package. Microchip’s Wi-Fi Comm Demo Board is available now for $49.
Mentor Graphics unveiled the latest version of their Nucleus Real Time Operating System (RTOS). Nucleus v3 features a certified IPv6 Ready networking stack and security protocols, a variety of wireless communication options (such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Zigbee), and built-in power management capabilities. Mentor Nucleus Real Time Operating System is ideal for power conscious, battery powered applications.
Digi International introduced the rugged ConnectPort X3 H programmable cellular gateway for monitoring remote assets in harsh environments. The Digi ConnectPort X3 H features a NEMA 4X/IP66 enclosure to protect the gateway from water, dust and dirt. The ConnectPort X3 H provides global connectivity to remote devices and device/sensor networks via GSM GPRS cellular networks. The Digi m130 is an embedded module that enables OEMs to add GSM/GPRS, global positioning system (GPS) and ORBCOMM satellite connectivity to their products. The Digi International product enables remote connectivity to mobile assets via cellular or satellite networks. The Digi m130 is available now for $169 in 10,000 quantities. Development kits are available now for $1,299. The Digi m130 is ideal for fleet management and asset tracking applications.
AdaCore rolled out Ada Web Server (AWS) for Wind River’s VxWorks Real-Time Operating System (RTOS). AWS for VxWorks, when used with the GNAT Pro development environment, enables developers to easily implement a user interface to embedded systems through regular web browsers. With AWS for VxWorks, users can connect through a direct TCP/IP link to board-level applications flike system control, configuration, and maintenance. The two-way interface is both lightweight and flexible. AWS for Wind River VxWorks is available now.
MatrikonOPC introduced the OPC Server for IEC 61850 protocol. The MatrikonOPC Server for IEC 61850 supports all IEC 61850 compliant devices. It enables users to integrate these devices to the other automation components in the enterprise such as HMIs, Historians, and ERP. u-blox announced the N731 UMTS/HSPA modem reference design. The high-speed wireless connectivity reference design features full High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) capabilities: 7.2 Mb/s download and 5.8 Mb/s upload speeds. The N731 is a design that combines a baseband processor, RF transceiver, antenna multiplexer, and power amplifier components to support eight bands of HSPA / UMTS / EDGE / GPRS / GSM functionality including data, voice, and SMS.
