Digi International introduced the rugged ConnectPort X3 H programmable cellular gateway for monitoring remote assets in harsh environments. The Digi ConnectPort X3 H features a NEMA 4X/IP66 enclosure to protect the gateway from water, dust and dirt. The ConnectPort X3 H provides global connectivity to remote devices and device/sensor networks via GSM GPRS cellular networks. It is ideal for tank monitoring, pipeline, agriculture, utility and other rugged applications. The ConnectPort X3 H is shipped iDigi ready and is available in limited quantities for $438 MSR. It is certified by AT&T and works on virtually any GSM network around the world.
The WireX converter, from eDevice, enables legacy equipment with embedded analog modems to immediately be switched from connecting through the traditional phone line to connecting through a cellular GSM / GPRS wireless network. WireX is the first Analog-To-Wireless converter designed for self installation by the end-user. It does not require any changes on the existing legacy device, the user only needs to disconnect the phone cable from the wall and plug it into the WireX dial-up connector. The data previously transferred over the phone link is then automatically transmitted using phone line emulation over a GPRS or GSM data cellular network. WireX is ideal for remote patient monitors, telecardiology monitors, alarm and security systems, TV set-top-boxes, point-of-sale equipment, energy metering systems, security, and access control devices.
Digi International announced the ConnectCore 3G embedded module. The ConnectCore 3G features Qualcomm Gobi technology, which supports High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) or Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) networks. With ConnectCore 3G, develoeprs can develop one solution for use anywhere in the world with the same hardware. It is ideal for remote device management solutions in energy, fleet management, digital signage, industrial automation, and security/access control applications. Digi ConnectCore 3G Digi JumpStart Kits will be available in December 2010 for $499.
The Digi m130 is an embedded module that enables OEMs to add GSM/GPRS, global positioning system (GPS) and ORBCOMM satellite connectivity to their products. The Digi International product enables remote connectivity to mobile assets via cellular or satellite networks. The Digi m130 is available now for $169 in 10,000 quantities. Development kits are available now for $1,299. The Digi m130 is ideal for fleet management and asset tracking applications.
STMicroelectronics introduced the ST32-M low-power processor chip. The ST32-M is ideal for managing SIM data for machine-to-machine (M2M) cellular communications. ST32-M devices will sample this quareter. Mass production in the DFN8 6 x 5mm package is expected to begin in Q1 2010. The ST32-M family complements the ST32 range (targeting classical Java SIM card ICs) and the ST33 family (for the highly secure SIM card market). The extended Flash cycling capabilities of the ST32-M family, when combined with application-specific software development, will allow Mobile Network Operators to achieve multi-million data cycles in harsh environments.
