Avalue Technology announced their APC-18W5 flat screen multi-touch capacitive Panel PC. The APC-18W5 features the Intel Atom D525 Dual-Core processor, projected capacitive multi-touch ready touchscreen (18.5-inch, anti-scratch glass, 90% light transmission), industrial-grade design, pulse width modulation (PWM) automatic control function support, COM Port, three USB ports, Gigabit Ethernet port, Wi-Fi, two Mini-PCIe slots, PS2 keyboard/mouse, line out and a VGA port to drive a second display.
Integrated Device Technology introduced the LDS7000 and LDS7001 touch screen controller IC’s. The LDS7000 and LDS7001 are optimized for IDT’s single-layer multi-touch projected capacitive touch screen technology. They do not not require cross-over isolation points like other solutions. The new ICs are sampling now. The LDS7000 is available in a 5×5 mm, 40-pin TQFN package. It is priced at $2.50 in 10,000-unit quantities. The IDT LDS7001 is available in a 6×6 mm, 48-pin TQFN package. It is priced at $2.95 in 10,000-unit quantities.
Microchip Technology introduced the Multimedia Expansion Board and enhanced mTouch Cap Touch Evaluation Kit. The Multimedia Expansion Board enables development of highly interactive, graphics-based interfaces with network connectivity. The enhanced mTouch Cap Touch Evaluation Kit adds a new board for implementing capacitive touch sensing with the PIC32. The Multimedia Expansion Board (part # DM320005, $249.99) and the enhanced mTouch Cap Touch Evaluation Kit (part # DM183026-2, $99.95) are both available now.
Microchip Technology introduced the PIC18F K90 8-bit microcontroller (MCU) family. The PIC18F87K90 MCUs are ideal for home-automation (thermostats, security systems, in-home displays), appliance (coffee makers, ranges, refrigerators), industrial (electronic door locks, metering, HVAC controls), medical (pulse oximeters, glucometers, digital thermometers, portable health-monitoring devices), and automotive (alarm systems, keyless entry, dashboard and center-stack displays) applications. The PIC18F K90 MCUs are available in 64- and 80-pin TQFP and 64-pin QFN packages, with prices starting at $2.42 each in 10,000 unit quantities. Samples and volume-production quantities are available now.
Microchip Technology launched the PIC18F K22 8-bit microcontrollers (MCUs). The PIC18F K22 MCUs feature operation from 1.8 to 5.5V, several communication channels, 8 to 128 KB Flash memory, peripherals for mTouch capacitive touch-sensing applications, a 12-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), multiple PWMs, and additional timers. All of the new MCUs feature nanoWatt XLP technology for eXtreme Low Power operation, with industry-leading sleep currents down to 20 nA.
Microchip Technology introduced the PIC12F182X and PIC16F19XX 8-bit PIC microcontrollers (MCUs). The PIC1XF182X MCUs include dual I2C/SPI interfaces, multiple PWM channels with independent time bases, a Data Signal Modulator, and other peripherals. The PIC16F19XX MCUs provide up to 28 KB of Flash program memory. The on-chip LCD drive supports up to 184 segments and provides a low-power drive mode for increased efficiency. The MCUs also include up to 5 Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) channels with independent time bases for controlling various motor types and peripherals.
Microchip Technology introduced the PIC16(L)F1826 and PIC16(L)F1827 [PIC16(L)F1826/7] general-purpose 8-bit microcontrollers (MCUs) with Enhanced Mid-range core. The PIC16(L)F1826/7 devices are both available in 18-pin PDIP and SOIC packages; a 20-pin SSOP package; and 28-pin 6 mm x 6 mm QFN and 4 mm x 4 mm µQFN packages. The PIC16(L)F1826 are priced at $0.92 each in 10,000-unit quantities, and the PIC16(L)F1827 at $0.99 each in 10,000-unit quantities, for all package options.
Cypress Semiconductor announced the CY8C28xxx PSoC 1 programmable system-on-chip with enhanced analog performance. The programmable analog of the CY8C28xxx device enables more advanced mixed-signal and sensing applications, as well as faster and more robust capacitive touch-sensing interfaces. The CY8C28xxx PSoC 1 devices are now in production. The line is available in multiple configurations, and comes in a 48-pin QFN package, a 44-pin TQFP package, and 20- and 28-pin SSOP packages.
