Microchip Technology introduced their MCP794XX stand-alone I2C Real-Time Clock/Calendar (RTCC) family. The MCP794XX features on-chip EEPROM and SRAM, digital trimming for time-of-day calibration, battery-switchover, user-lockable section of EEPROM, 64-bit reprogrammable unique ID that can be factory-programmed with a MAC address. All six MCP794XX RTCC devices are available in 8-pin MSOP, SOIC, TSSOP and TDFN packages. The MCP79400 is priced at $0.64 each; the MCP79401, MCP79402 and MCP79410 at $0.70 each; and the MCP79411 and MCP79412 at $0.76 each, all in 10,000-unit quantities. The devices are ideal for smart-energy (thermostats, power meters and commercial refrigeration), home-appliance (stoves, dishwashers and microwave ovens), automotive (dashboard controls and car radios), and consumer-electronic markets (office equipment, irrigation controls and video systems).
Microchip Technology introduced the MCP1623 and MCP1624 (MCP1623/4) Synchronous Boost Regulators. The MCP1623 and MCP1624 regulators enable designers to reduce the size and number of batteries without increasing costs. The MCP1623/4 regulators can be utilized with any PIC microcontroller for < 0.7V VDD operation. The MCP1623/4 Synchronous Boost Regulators are available in a 6-pin, SOT-23 package, for less than $0.20 each, in volume. Samples are available today. Volume-production quantity orders can be placed now.
STMicroelectronics announced the STM6600 and STM6601 smart pushbutton on/off controller chips for battery-powered embedded systems like e-readers, tablets, media players, smartphones, and digital cameras. The STM6600 and STM6601 on/off controller chips will enable next-generation mobile products to offer easy-to-use ‘power-up’, ‘power-down’ and ‘unfreeze/reset’ functions that will prevent damage to the end-user product. The STM6600 and STM6601 are in volume production now. Several configurations are available, allowing designers to optimize protection for their designs, priced from $0.65 in quantities of 10,000.
Dialog Semiconductor introduced the DA9057 system level power management IC. The DA9057 is a highly integrated power management, audio and user interface controller for multimedia players, portable navigation systems and other handheld devices. The DA9057 features five on-board dc/dc converters that support 24-bit stereo audio headphone playback on a 5mW power budget. The DA9057 combines a flexible power sequencer with a fully programmable filter/mixer engine to support a wide variety of ARM-based multimedia processors.
