VIA Technologies launched the Nano X2 E-Series processors for 64-bit x86 embedded system design applications. The processor combines two 64-bit, superscalar VIA Nano cores on a single die. The low power VIA Nano X2 Series processor is available in two speeds: 1.2+ GHz and 1.6+ GHz. VIA Nano X2 E-Series Processors are sampling now. Systems and boards featuring the new VIA processors will be available this quarter. The VIA Nano X2 E-Series features a component longevity guarantee of 7 years.
VIA Technologies introduced the Eden X2 dual-core processor for industrial and commercial embedded systems. VIA Eden X2 processors combine two 64-bit, superscalar VIA Eden cores on one die. The Eden X2 are natively 64-bit compatible. VIA Eden X2 processors are based on the latest 40nm manufacturing process using a VIA NanoBGA2 package of 21mm x 21mm with a die size of 11mm x 6mm. VIA Eden X2 processors and are fully pin-to-pin compatible with VIA Eden, VIA C7 and VIA Nano E-Series processors. VIA Eden X2 Processors are sampling now. Systems and boards featuring the VIA Eden X2 will be available in Q2 2011.
Wind River announced version 6.9 of VxWorks real-time operating system (RTOS). VxWorks 6.9 features 64-bit computing support (in data and code execution) and improved multi-core processing support in both symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) and asymmetrical multiprocessing (AMP) configurations. VxWorks 6.9 is the first commercial-grade RTOS to fully support 32-bit and 64-bit processing on Intel Architecture. VxWorks 6.9 will be available in March. 64-bit VxWorks RTOS is ideal for telecommunications (such as network infrastructure equipment), industrial and medical applications (like high-definition imagery), and aerospace and defense applications (like highly complex radar, sonar and sensors).
Freescale Semiconductor announced the QorIQ P5 64-bit Power Architecture platform. The P5 platform features the e5500 core and is ideal for high-end control and data plane applications in networking, enterprise storage, security appliance, data center and aerospace/defense markets. The single-core 64-bit P5010 and the dual-core 64-bit P5020 processors will be the first products in the new QorIQ P5 communications platform. Simulated models of the P5020 and P5010 are expected in July 2010. Initial samples are planned for Q4 2010, and qualification is expected in 2H 2011.
VIA Technologies introduced the VIA Nano E-Series processor for embedded systems. The Nano E-Series features native 64-bit software support, virtualization capabilities, and product longevity of seven years. The VIA Nano E-Series processors also support VIA VT virtualization technology, allowing legacy software and applications to be used in virtual scenarios without impacting on performance. The processors are vailable at speeds from 800MHz to 1.8GHz. VIA Nano E-Series processor samples are available now.
