Microchip Technology recently introduced their PIC24F KM family of 16-bit PIC microcontrollers. The PIC24F KM MCUs feature up to 16 KB Flash, 2 KB RAM and 512B EEPROM. The new MCU family is available now. Prices start at $1.77 each in 10,000-unit quantities. The Microchip microcontrollers are ideal for cost-sensitive automotive, consumer, medical and industrial applications.
Microchip Technology launched the dsPIC33FJ32MC104 family of 16-Bit Digital Signal Controllers. The dsPIC33FJ32MC101, dsPIC33FJ32GP101 and PIC24FJ32MC101 devices are available in 20-pin SOIC and PDIP packages. The dsPIC33FJ32MC102, dsPIC33FJ32GP102 and PIC24FJ32MC102 devices are offered in 28-pin SOIC, SSOP, QFN packages, as well as a 36-pin VTLA package. The dsPIC33FJ32MC104, dsPIC33FJ32GP104 and PIC24FJ32MC104 are offered in 44-pin TQFP, VTLA, and QFN packages. All the devices are available now for sampling and volume production. Prices start at $1.71 each (10,000-unit quantities).
Texas Instruments (TI) introduced the MSP430AFE2xx 16-bit microcontrollers. The analog front end (AFE) ultra-low-power MCUs are based on a 16-bit RISC architecture with a system frequency of 12MHz. The microcontroller has an energy accuracy with less than 0.1% error over a dynamic range of 2400:1. The MSP430AFE2xx features three independent 24-bit sigma-delta A/D converters, one 16-bit timer, one 16-bit hardware multiplier, USART communication interface, watchdog timer, and 11 I/O pins. The TI MSP430AFE2xx microcontrollers are available now. Prices start at $0.80 for 1K units.
Microchip Technology unveiled the PIC24FJ64GA104 and PIC24FJ64GB004 16-bit microcontroller (mcu) families. Both PIC24F families feature nanoWatt XLP extreme low power technology, small packages, and mTouch capacitive touch sensing. All family members are available now for sampling and volume production. Prices start at $2.12 each in 10,000 unit quantities for the PIC24FJ64GA104 general-purpose family members, and $2.32 each in 10,000 unit quantities for the PIC24FJ64GB004 USB family members.
