Kontron introduced the KM2M806XT Machine-to-Machine (M2M) deployable system. The Kontron KM2M806XT is based on the Intel Atom 600 MHZ processor. It features three USB ports, accelerometer, dual HDMI, HD audio, GB Ethernet, and 4GB internal MicroSD card. The Kontron KM2M806XT is ideal for M2M applications that must operate in extended temperatures and industrial environments.
Microchip Technology introduced their PIC12LF1840T48A single-chip devices. The PIC12LF1840T48A integrates an eXtreme Low Power (XLP), 8-bit PIC microcontroller with a sub-GHz RF transmitter. The Microchip PIC12LF1840T48A is optimized to run Microchip’s royalty-free KEELOQ advanced code-hopping technology. The new device family is available in a 14-pin TSSOP package. It is priced at $1.06 each in 10,000-unit quantities. Samples are available now. Volume production is expected in January.
u-blox introduced the LISA-C200 wireless voice and data modem module. The u-blox LISA-C2 series provides dual-band CDMA2000 1xRTT data and voice communication in a SMT form factor. The modules are fully qualified and certified modules. They feature low power consumption and a rich set of Internet protocols. Samples of LISA-C200 will be available in the first quarter of next year. They are ideal for M2M and automotive applications like Fleet management, Automatic Meter Reading (AMR), people and asset tracking, surveillance and security and Point of Sales (PoS) terminals.
TinyMesh is a new mesh network protocol that operates in all sub-1 GHz and 2.4 GHz license free ISM bands. TinyMesh networks are self forming and self healing without external interaction. The TinyMesh modules and demo kits are available now. TinyMesh is ideal for AMR/AMI, home and building automation and general telemetry and industrial automation systems.
Radicom Research introduced the RB4000 and RB4000HM Bluetooth modules. The new Radicom modules replace RS232 cable by providing short-range wireless data connectivity. The RB4000 (surface-mount PCB module with on-board antenna), RB4000HM (through-hole module), and RB4000HM-c (built-in U.FL connector) Bluetooth modules are available now. Prices start at US$9.00 for the RB4000 in quantities of 500 pieces.
Texas Instruments introduced the OpenLink open source Wi-Fi and Bluetooth daughter card for AM18x evaluation modules (EVMs). The standalone WiLink 6.0 daughter card is a combo wireless connectivity add-on card. It is based on the LS Research TiWi module with Texas Instruments WiLink 6.0 (WL1271) solution. The standalone daughter card is available for $249. The production-ready WiLink 6.0 (WL1271) OpenLink module is bundled in the AM18x Sitara ARM EVM + WL1271 Development Kit, which is priced at $1,150.
ICube Technology introduced Harmony Unified Processor Technology for mobile computing. Harmony Unified Processor Technology integrates a central processing unit (CPU) and a graphics processing unit (GPU) into one unified core. Finished silicon for the Harmony Unified Processor Technology has been produced and is ready for packaging. The chip is ideal for the Android-based tablet computer market. Volume shipping is expected by the end of the year.
Microchip Technology introduced their Accessory Development Starter Kits for Android. The starter kit is a standalone board used for evaluating and developing electronic accessories for the Google Android operating system for smartphones and tablets. The Microchip PIC24F Accessory Development Starter Kit For Android consists of the 16-bit PIC24F PIC MCU-based development board and a software library. The PIC24F starter kit is available now for $79.99. The PIC32 starter kit will be available in the third quarter of 2011 for $79.99. The software library (works with both kits) is also available now via a free download.

The Avastar 88W8797 features Wi-Fi Tx beamforming technology, Bluetooth 4.0 low energy capabilities, FM Tx/Rx, and supports high data rates. The Avastar 88W8797 is a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) combination radio with advanced power management designed for handheld products like smartphones and tablets.
