SYSGO rolled out version 5.1 of the ELinOS embedded Linux RTOS. ELinOS 5.1 supports the x86, PowerPC, ARM, SH, SPARC V8 and MIPS64 processors. ELinOS 5.1 is available for Linux and Windows hosted platforms. The 5.1 release features integration of several major kernel releases, including 2.6.34 with full 64-bit target support, latest GCC 4.4 toolchain, and support for major architectures such as Intel, PowerPC, ARM, MIPS64 and SPARC V8. ELinOS 5.1 is available now.
Wind River rolled out the Wind River VxWorks Cert Platform, which is a combination of the VxWorks DO-178B and IEC 61508 safety critical platforms. The Wind River VxWorks Cert Platform supports C++ and real-time processes (RTP). VxWorks Cert is ideal for safety critical applications that must be certified to the stringent requirements of RTCA DO-178B and EUROCAE ED-12B (Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification) and IEC 61508 and other related software standards. Wind River VxWorks Cert Platform is available now worldwide. The VxWorks DO-178B Platform and VxWorks 61508 Platform will no longer be availabe as separate, standalone platforms.
FemtoLinux is a new Linux flavor optimized for real-time embedded systems. With FemtoLinux, critical Linux applications run in kernel mode. This results a low system call and interrupt-to-application latency and overhead. FemtoLinux also simplifies RTOS-to-Linux porting significantly — RTOS applications can be ported to embedded Linux without drastic changes to the software architecture. FemtoLinux is available now for the ARM architecture. MIPS and PowerPC ports are in the works.
ITTIA DB SQL is now available for the QNX Neutrino Real-time Operating System (RTOS). ITTIA DB SQL is a database for special-purpose systems that require self-contained data management software. A free evaluation of ITTIA DB SQL for the QNX Neutrino RTOS is available now. The evaluation kit contains a complete embedded database library, optional server, support for both on-disk and in-memory data management and SQL tools.

QNX Software Systems introduced version 6.5 of the Neutrino realtime operating system (RTOS) and the QNX Momentics Tool Suite. The latest version features support for ARM Cortex-A9 processors and Freescale Power e500MC processor cores, a Persistent Publish/Subscribe service, a variety of performance optimizations, and an enhanced toolchain that includes Eclipse CDT 6.0, GCC 4.4.2, and GDB 7.0. QNX Neutrino RTOS 6.5 and the QNX Momentics Tool Suite 6.5 will be availabile in June 2010.
LynuxWorks introduced LynxSecure 4.0 embedded virtualization solution for single and multicore processors. The 4.0 release of LynxSecure separation kernel and embedded hypervisor supports the Intel Core i7 and i5 processor families and enables new configurations of guest operating systems. The combination of LynxSecure 4.0 and the Intel Core i7 improve performance and security of embedded systems. LynxSecure 4.0 will be available in May 2010.
Express Logic introduced ThreadX/SMP RTOS for the MIPS32 1004K Coherent Processing System (CPS). ThreadX/SMP is an enhanced version of ThreadX. It provides synchronous multicore support that preserves real-time responsiveness called Real-Time SMP. ThreadX/SMP enables developers to take advantage of the performance boost of sharing the processing load over the multiple processor cores of the 1004K CPS while maintaining the real-time responsiveness critical to demanding embedded applications. ThreadX/SMP is available in full source code form, royalty-free, with project license prices starting at $15,500.
Kontron announced the nanoETXexpress Starterkit for the latest VxWorks platform. The starter kit is pre-configured with the Kontron nanoETXexpress-SP Computer-on-Module, featuring the Intel Atom Z530 (1.6GHz) processor, and is validated by the Wind River Partner Validation Program for use with VxWorks. The Kontron nanoETXexpress-SP Starterkit for VxWorks helps developers to address critical issues such as integration costs, time-to-market, and long-term support, right from the start of platform evaluation.
Kontron introduced the ThinkIO-Solo embedded IPC and the Debian Linux desktop distribution for the Kontron ThinkIO-Duo/-Solo. The Kontron embedded IPC ThinkIO-Solo features an Intel Celeron M processor clocked at 1.06 GHz, 1 GB RAM, up to 4 GB soldered internal flash and 512KB non-volatile memory. The Kontron ThinkIO-Solo will be in production by the third quarter. The Linux Desktop distribution is available now.
