IBASE Technology introduced the FWA8207 network appliance. The FWA8207 features the Intel 3450 PCH Express chipset, four DDR3 1066/1333 DIMM modules, six Gigabit Ethernet ports, three SATA connectors, four USB 2.0 ports, two COM ports and a watchdog timer. It supports Intel Xeon / Core i7/i5/i3 processors (up to 3.06 GHz). The IBASE FWA8207 1U network appliance is ideal for firewall and VPN applications.

WIN Enterprises introduced their PL-80380 network appliance for Internet security applications. The PL-80380 features a Freescale P1015E/P1024E processor, onboard DDR3 memory, two Atheros AR8033/AR8035 GbE Ethernet LAN ports with bypass function, four GbE Switch ports, mini-PCIe slot, a USB 2.0 and console port. The WIN PL-80380 is available in four standard configurations. Customization of the unit is also possible in OEM quantities. the PL-80380 is FCC and CE compliant.

Device Language Message Specification Protocol Stack for 16-bit PIC MCUs

Microchip Technology and Kalki Communication Technologies (Kalkitech) teamed together to optimize a Device Language Message Specification (DLMS) protocol stack for 16-bit PIC microcontrollers (MCUs). The DLMS stack is available now. It is available in four flavors: DLMS Evaluation Library (free evaluation version), DLMS-lite Stack ($3,900 for 5k units), DLMS Stack ($4,800 for 5k units), and DLMS Explorer ($2,800 each).

PMC-Sierra PM6373 POLO 40G SoC for Coherent Optical Networking

PMC-Sierra introduced the PM6373 POLO 40G System-on-Chip for coherent optical networking. The SoC is a single chip CMOS coherent DP-(D)QPSK transmission transceiver. The PMC-Sierra PM6373 POLO 40G features chromatic dispersion (CD), polarization mode dispersion (PMD), second order PMD (SOP), and high-rate polarization tracking. The device will sample later this year. The POLO 40G is implemented in 40nm CMOS technology and packaged in a 480-pin 23mm x 23mm FCBGA package.

Axiomtek iCON-83000 Managed Hardened Ethernet Switch

Axiomtek announced the iCON-83000 16-port 10/100Base-TX managed hardened Ethernet switch. The iCON-83000 features two combo Gigabit ports, IP30 protected housing, slim form factor (84 x 125 x 145 mm), wide operating temperature range (-40°C to +75°C), DIN-rail or panel mounting capability, and redundant power inputs. The switch complies with IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 standards for substation automation applications, NEMA TS1 and TS2 for traffic control systems, and EN50121-4 for railway applications. The Axiomtek iCON-83000 Ethernet switch will be available next month.

GE NETernity GBX460 Fully Managed OpenVPX 10 Gigabit Ethernet Switch

GE Intelligent Platforms introduced the NETernity GBX460, which is a fully managed data plane switch module. The managed GBX460 features OpenWare switch management capability, Layer 2/3 switching and routing, including support for IPv6 addressing; extensive management for configuration and protocol options; and the ability to customize the software to meet specific application requirements. OpenWare supports high throughput interprocessor communication (IPC) between 10GigE-enabled processing nodes. The NETernity GBX460 is ideal for high performance computing (HPC) and networking applications (communications, ISR and radar).

American Portwell Technology introduced the CAR-5010 network appliance. The Portwell CAR-5010 supports the Intel Xeon 5600 series quad-core and six-core 32nm processor. The network appliance features a 2U rackmount chassis, dual sockets for the Intel Xeon processors, integrated memory controller, up to 6.4 GT/s Intel Quick Path Interconnect (QPI) Technology links, 36 PCI Express generation 2.0 lanes, and six DDR3 DIMM slots for each processor. The CAR-5010 supports remote network monitoring and active management. The remote management features include KVM, IPMI 2.0, Power Management, Virtual Media, IPMI Authentication and Web GUI.

The Digi ConnectPort X3 H features a NEMA 4X/IP66 enclosure to protect the gateway from water, dust and dirt. The ConnectPort X3 H provides global connectivity to remote devices and device/sensor networks via GSM GPRS cellular networks. It is ideal for tank monitoring, pipeline, agriculture, utility and other rugged applications. The ConnectPort X3 H is shipped iDigi ready and is available in limited quantities for $438 MSR. The PL-80260 features either the Intel Atom D410 single-core or D510 dual-core processor, Intel 82801HM I/O Hub, CompactFlash, up to 6 Intel GbE LAN ports, SSD or HDD, DDR2 SO-DIMM (up to 2GB), Dual SATA-II interfaces, and mini PCI slot. The PL-8026A version with Dual-Core Atom D510 costs $379 in OEM quantities of 1000 units. Evaluation units are available now. The unit can be modified to meet specific market requirements. The PL-80260 is ideal for OEM applications like routing, firewall/threat management, database, and network attached storage (NAS).
