Microsemi rolled out their LXMG1645 quad-lamp CCFL backlight inverters. The LXMG1645 family features StayLIT fault-management, which enables multi-lamp displays to continue operating, even during individual or multi lamp failures. The family includes the LXMG1645-12-xx (supports 12 V inputs) and the LXMG1645-24-xx (supports 24 V inputs). The devices are ideal for LCD panels used in health monitoring, ATMs and other mission-critical applications. The LXMG1645 quad-lamp CCFL backlight inverters are in full production.
PMC-Sierra introduced the PAS6500 System-on-Chip (SoC) family of EPON ONU devices. The PMC-Sierra PAS6500 family consists of the PAS6502 for data and voice-over-IP (VoIP) Single-Family Units (SFUs), the PAS6500 for data SFUs, and the PAS6501 for Multiple Dwelling Units (MDUs). EPON ONU devices feature integrated Optical Analog Front End (OAFE) technology. The PAS6500 samples and reference designs are available now. The chips are ideal for Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) applications.
ZMD introduced their ZSSC3122 cLite low voltage capacitive sensor signal conditioner (SSC). The ZSSC3122 can be configured to interface with capacitive sensors from 2 to 10 pF with sensitivity as low as 125 atto-Farads (aF) per digital bit. The ZSSC3122 cLite features 4-bit resolution, 0.25% full-scale output accuracy, and built-in sleep mode. The device is ideal for low-power battery applications and industrial and rugged environments. VIA Technologies introduced the VIA VID series of industrial-class touch screen displays. VIA VID Series displays are available in both ruggedized and open frame configurations. All ruggedized configurations feature IP65 water resistance compliancy and operating temperatures of -10°C to 70°. The TFT LCD panels are ideal for interactive kiosk, POI and POS embedded systems in harsh industrial environments. VIA VID series displays are available now in 15″ and 12.1″ form factors. Later this year, 19″, 10.4″ and 7″ sizes will also be available.
ZMD introduced the ZIOL2201 line driver and level shifter IC. The ZMD ZIOL2201 features high-voltage I/O channel, integrated DC/DC converter, IO-Link communication standard support, operating temperature of -40°C to +85°C, and 4mm x 4mm QFN24 package. The output driver is a push pull stage that reaches an RDSon of less than 6.6 Ohms. The IC is ideal for sensors and actuators used in the harsh environment of automation applications. Texas Instruments (TI) announced the ISO1176T isolated half-duplex differential line transceiver with integrated transformer driver. The TI ISO1176T provides the primary voltage for an isolation transformer. The ISO1176T offers the smallest isolated signal and power system design with highest efficiency and lowest electromagnetic interference (EMI). The 16-pin SOIC ISO1176T is available now for $3.30 (in quantities of 1,000). Two other isolated full-duplex RS-485 transceivers with transformer drivers, one operating at 5 V and other operating at 3.3 V, will be available by the end of this quarter.
Summit Microelectronics introduced the SMB109 programmable DC-DC power manager. The Summit SMB109 features multiple DC-DC outputs, digital power management/monitoring, and non-volatile system configuration. The SMB109 is available now in a thermally-enhanced, RoHS-compliant, lead-free 7mm X 7mm, 56-pad QFN. The SMB109 is priced at $3.50 in quantities of 10,000 units. The SMB109 is ideal for powering multi-rail digital chipsets for applications like notebooks, netbooks, tablets, servers, storage, telecom, datacom and multimedia devices.
Integrated Device Technology introduced the LDS7000 and LDS7001 touch screen controller IC’s. The LDS7000 and LDS7001 are optimized for IDT’s single-layer multi-touch projected capacitive touch screen technology. They do not not require cross-over isolation points like other solutions. The new ICs are sampling now. The LDS7000 is available in a 5×5 mm, 40-pin TQFN package. It is priced at $2.50 in 10,000-unit quantities. The IDT LDS7001 is available in a 6×6 mm, 48-pin TQFN package. It is priced at $2.95 in 10,000-unit quantities.
The u-blox UBX-G6010-NT is a single-chip GPS solution. The UBX-G6010-NT measures only 5 x 6 x 1.1 mm and does require an external host. The UBX-G6010-NT GPS features high sensitivity (down to -162 dBm or -148 dBm during coldstart) and fast acquisition times. The total system BOM requires as few as 5 external components (including SAW filter and TCXO). An LDO and LNA are integrated and external memory is not needed. The UBX-G6010-NT supports GPS crystals and TCXOs. The chip is ideal for small, low-power, low cost applications.
Microchip Technology introduced the RE46C190 3V photo smoke-detector IC with horn driver and boost regulator. The RE46C190 features low-voltage operation with programmable calibration and operating modes. With the smoke-detector IC, the desired operating modes can be selected and calibrated during manufacturing. A single Lithium battery can power the chip for up to ten years. Two Alkaline batteries may also be used to power the RE46C190. The RE46C190 smoke-detector IC is available in a 16-pin SOIC 150 mil, package for $0.94 each, in 10,000-unit quantities. The RE46C190 is available now.
