Kontron introduced the MICROSPACE MPCX60 embedded system. The on-board computers are ideal for public transport vehicles, fleet management, and commercial vehicle control systems. The vehicle computers support Windows, Linux and VxWorks. The pre-series models of the Kontron MICROSPACE MPCX60 vehicle computers will be available at the end of October. Series production starts in December 2012.
The Kontron MICROSPACE MPCX60 embedded systems feature an Intel Atom D525 processor (2x 1.8 GHz) or AMD Embedded G-Series T40E processor (2x 1 GHz), up to 4 GB DDR3 RAM, and a PCI/104-Express slot or a CompactPCI-extension slot. A wide selection of standard components of Ethernet switches up to basic digital and analog I/O cards are also available. In addition, the implementation of the FPGA Altera Cyclone IV FPGA processor (EP4CGX30CF) for the free programming of individual interfaces is also available as an option.
The MICROSPACE MPCX60 box PCs feature VGA or DVI interfaces at the rear as well as the option for LVDS as a second display. There are two USB 2.0 ports at the front and four at the rear. On the back are 1x Gigabit LAN, up to 4 serial interfaces (RS232C, RS422 or RS485) and 2x CAN-Bus. For application scenarios in which wireless connectivity is required, there are antenna connectors at the rear for WLAN, GSM and GPS. The requisite SIM card for GSM communication can simply be inserted via the SIM slot on the front plate.
The Kontron MICROSPACE MPCX60 vehicle computer includes four digital and two analog inputs and outputs. Application-specific extensions are also available via two PCIe mini card slots, 1 x PCI/104-Express or 1x CompactPCI (32Bit PCI, 3HE/4TE). A CompactFlash module and an internal 2.5 SATA 3Gb/s HDD are included for data storage media.
