Radicom Research introduced the RB510 Embedded Bluetooth Modules for OEM’s. The RB510 series Bluetooth audio module features an embedded DSP core, stereo CODEC, flash and antenna. The chip is available now. Prices start at $13 each (in quantity of 1,000). The Radicom RB510 modules are ideal for high quality Bluetooth headset designs and other mono and stereo audio applications.
There are two platforms available: RB510 and RB510HM. The RB510 is a surface mount PCB module with on-board antennas built-in. The RB510HM is a DIP, through-hole module with a 1″ x 1″ footprint. The 510HM has an U.FL connector built in for attaching an antenna cable. The U.FL connector provides flexibility for placing antennas at a desired location.
The RB510 series is Bluetooth V.2.1 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) compliant. The modules increase throughput, reduce battery consumption and improve security. The devices provides faster pairing and allows superior performance in the presence of interference from 802.11 (WiFi) wireless devices and other 2.4GHz radios.
The RB510 and RB510HM Bluetooth audio modules can connect to other Bluetooth devices, such as MP3/MD/CD players, mobile phones, and desktop or notebook computers, and PDAs. The modules have a range up to 10 meters.
The RB510 and RB510HM have 8 Mbits flash memory on board. OEM specific parameters and settings can be easily loaded into these modules. It provides an efficient method of adding a Bluetooth data link to most embedded applications.
