RoweBots Unison Real-time Operating System v5

Posted by Ken Cheung in RTOS on Wednesday, February 17, 2010

RoweBots Research launched version five of the Unison Operating System. Unison royalty free licenses are free for version 4 and start at $999 for version 5. Both are immediately available. The Unison Operating System offers an ultra tiny embedded POSIX environment for 32 bit microcontroller (MCU) based development that is also Linux compatible.

Unison V5 Features

  • Web Server with CGI, Security and Authentication
  • Advanced networking
  • Kernel Enhancements
  • FAT12/16/32 File Systems
  • Flash File System support with uSD, SD and MMC
  • Other I/O including Graphics and USB
  • RTOS Viewer Tools
  • Supports thousands of MCUs

Unison supports lean product development and extends the range of processors that can run POSIX from powerful MCUs with external memory to small system on chip (SOC) MCUs. Designers can develop all embedded products on common POSIX application programming interfaces (APIs). This common POSIX API reduces training, eliminates rework, and facilitates software component reuse, directly reducing development time, costs and risk.

Unison’s open system environment enables users to migrate tens of thousands of programs from larger systems to the Unison real-time operating system (RTOS) to save time and reduce development costs.
