MEN Micro P507 Quad RS422/485 Interface PMC

MEN Micro introduced the high performance P507 Quad RS422/485 Interface PMC. The new PMC offers 32 MB of soldered SDRAM DDR2 memory and a 132 MHz memory bus frequency. Two MB of FPGA-controlled non-volatile Flash memory is included for FPGA data and NIOS firmware. The P507 PMC offers fast serial data transfer via four software-configurable RS422/485 UART interfaces supporting full (RS422) and half duplex (RS485) operation. Each channel on the P507 PMC includes an independent 500 V isolation enabling the 32 bit/33 MHz P507 to supply data rates of up to 921,600 bits/s. The UART interfaces also provide a 60-byte transmit/receive buffer. All ports are available on a shielded 50-pin D-sub front panel connector. Pricing for the P507 PMC is $703.

MEN Micro P507 PMC Features

  • 32-bit/33-MHz PMC
  • 4 high-performance UARTs
  • Full and half duplex, software programmable
  • Serial data rates up to 921,600 bits/s
  • Isolation between channels
  • -40 to +85°C with qualified components

The MEN Micro P507 PMC incorporates its FPGA on the main PMC, with line drivers implemented on a submodule — the USM (Universal Submodule) — that simply plugs into the P507. The PMC’s UART functionality is carried out inside the onboard FPGA, which is easily modified by employing new IP cores to meet customer’s exact requirements.

The MEN Micro P507 PMC is qualified for an extended temperature range of -40 degrees Celsius to +85 degrees Celsius and prepared for coating against dust and humidity. The P507 is ideal for safety-critical and mobile applications. The P507 can be used on all PMC-compliant host carrier boards in any type of bus system independent of the application, such as CompactPCI, VME or on any stand-alone SBC in telecommunication, industrial, medical, transportation and aerospace applications.

Relative humidity for operation and storage is a maximum of 95% non-condensing. Fully soldered connections provide performance rated to withstand 15 g/11 ms for shock, 10 g/16 ms for bump and 1 g/10 Hz…150 Hz for vibration (sinusoidal).

The PMC can also be optionally equipped with its own intelligence via a Nios softcore. This provides long-term availability of at least 10 years to guarantee flexibility and reduce obsolescence in users’ projects.
