Quadros Systems announced that their RTXC Quadros Real-time Operating Systems (RTOS) now support ARM1136 and ARM1176 cores from ARM. The RTXC Quadros RTOS offers a small footprint and excellent efficiency while ARM11 processors deliver high performance and low energy consumption. The combination of RTXC Quadros RTOS and ARM11 processors is ideal for consumer electronics, GPS systems, and product that needs fast interrupt processing and high data throughput.
The RTXC Quadros RTOS was ported to the ARM11 using ARM RealView Development Suite 4.0. The RVDS tool suite includes the highly optimizing ARM C/C++ compiler, intelligent code linking and link-time code generation, and debug. The RTXC Quadros kernel aware plug-in is available for RVDS, providing increased visibility of kernel operations during debugging.
RTXC offers over 300 kernel services (APIs), but requires only a 32 KB code footprint. Thet size can be scaled down even more by using the supplied RTXCgen configuration tool to optimize the RTOS for the needs of the given application.
The ARM1176JZF-S and ARM1136JF-S processors deliver up to 660 Dhrystone 2.1 MIPS in 0.13µ process. Both cores feature the ARMv6 instruction set, with media processing extensions, ARM Jazelle technology and Thumb instruction set extensions for compact code. The RTXC Quadros RTOS also supports the tightly coupled memory (TCM), the generous cache memory (up to 64k), and the optional vector floating point (VFP) coprocessor.
