Texas Instruments Introduces TMS320DM357 Digital Media Processor
Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) announced its newest digital media processor based on DaVinci[tm] technology, the TMS320DM357. The DM357 is a low-cost, ARM®-based processor that includes a royalty-free H.264 codec at D1 resolution for video compression, as well as MPEG-4, JPEG and G.711 codecs that do not require licensing fees or royalties to TI, and an integrated Ethernet Media Access Controller (EMAC) to help developers reduce their bill of material (BOM) costs.
IEI Technology Rolls Out PICOe-GM45A Half-size CPU Card
IEI Technology Corp. (IEI) announced the launch of the PICOe-GM45A half-size CPU card. The PICOe-GM45A is a unique 45 nm Intel® Core[tm]2 Duo processor platform because it combines both PCI Express (PCIe) and PCI edge connectors on a half-size form factor. Half-size CPU cards are commonly used in space-restricted industrial computing applications. However, most half-size CPU cards don’t provide simultaneous support for both the PCI Express (PCIe) and PCI communication buses.

Analog Devices Launches Continuous-Time Sigma-Delta ADC Family
Analog Devices, Inc. (NYSE: ADI) unveiled its continuous-time sigma-delta (CTSD) converter architecture for wireless infrastructure, medical and other high-performance equipment demanding uncompromised data resolution and wide bandwidth. The 16-bit, AD9261 and AD9262 CTSD converter, and the AD9267 CTSD modulator couple the industry’s lowest noise and high dynamic range with a bandwidth of up to 10 MHz.

Actel, UMC Partner on 65nm eFlash FPGAs
Actel Corporation (Nasdaq: ACTL) a leading global semiconductor foundry, announced that the two companies have cooperated for the production of Actel’s next generation flash-based FPGAs (field programmable gate array). The chips will be manufactured on UMC’s 65nm low leakage process, and will take advantage of the foundry’s 65nm embedded flash (eFlash) technology. Successful first-silicon demonstration of Actel’s 65nm eFlash-based FPGA has already been achieved at UMC’s 300mm Fabs.
TDK Announces CFG8A U.DMA 6 CompactFlash, SDG8A Parallel ATA SSD
TDK Corporation announced that it will begin sales in December 2008 of the CFG8A series of U.DMA 6-compatible CompactFlash (CF) cards and the SDG8A series of Parallel ATA (PATA) compatible solid state drives (SSD) for industrial applications with a maximum capacity of 16 GByte. These products combine the original GBDriver RA8 U.DMA 6-compatible NAND Flash memory controller and a high-speed, high-frequency write single level cell (SLC) NAND Flash memory.

Tektronix Reduces Development Time with Altera HardCopy II Devices
Altera Corporation (NASDAQ:ALTR) announced its HardCopy® II ASICs enabled Tektronix Inc. to reduce the development time of its latest oscilloscopes by 20 percent. Using the HardCopy II system development methodology instead of a standard-cell ASIC-based approach played a key role in Tektronix’s rapid delivery of industry-best oscilloscopes at entry-level prices, the new MSO2000 Mixed Signal and DPO2000 Digital Phosphor Oscilloscope series.
Genesys Logic Licenses nSys Verification Suite for SuperSpeed USB
nSys Design Systems Pvt. Ltd. (nSys) announced that Genesys Logic, Inc. has licensed nVS (nSys Verification Suite) for SuperSpeed USB for the development of the SuperSpeed based designs. Genesys Logic engineers are using the nVS verification IP to simulate, and verify the USB 3.0 interface of the next generation Genesys Logic chips. The use of nVS will help the Genesys Logic team eliminate bugs at the pre-silicon stage at a much faster rate than they had anticipated.
