Freescale Launches S08 8-Bit Automotive Microcontrollers
Freescale Semiconductor continues to rev up its 8-bit automotive microcontroller (MCU) portfolio with the introduction of an S08 MCU family designed for entry-level instrument clusters and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) controls. Featuring an integrated liquid crystal display (LCD) driver, the new 8-bit S08LG32 MCUs provide a cost-effective solution for LCD-based body applications in value-line vehicles popular in emerging markets, such as India and China.

National Instruments Debuts NI WLS-9234, PXIe-4496, PXIe-4498 Modules
National Instruments announced the release of a new wireless data acquisition module and two new PXI Express modules. With the NI WLS-9234 wireless dynamic signal acquisition (DSA) module, engineers and scientists can stream vibration data wirelessly over the IEEE 802.11g (Wi-Fi) standard to distributed monitoring systems and eliminate the cost and clutter of cabling. The new PXI Express DSA modules, the NI PXIe-4496 and PXIe-4498, make it possible to acquire data from 272 channels at full rate in a single PXI Express chassis.

Signametrics Rolls Out SMU4032 Relay Switching Module
The SMU4032 USB Switching Module is the only compact, mobile, true instrumentation multiplexer available for the USB format. Weighing in at less then a pound, and with dimensions of 5″ X 7″ X 1.3″, the SMU4032 is ideal for environments and applications where size, weight, or mobility requirements rule out traditional bench top equipment. The SMU4032 is powered off the USB bus, making it ideal for use with a laptop in mobile environments.

Advantest Rolls Out T5782 Memory Test System
Advantest Corporation (TSE: 6857, NYSE: ATE) announced its new memory tester, the T5782. Available this month, the T5782 is designed with per-site architecture and industry-leading speeds of 266MHz/533Mbps, and is ideally suited for testing today’s flash memories, as well as future device generations including memory-embedded microcontrollers and rapidly evolving memory bus environments. The T5782′s at-speed, at-specification performance meets the requirements of tomorrow’s Known Good Die (KGD) and MCP memory solutions.

VDMA Electronics Production Equipment Manufacturers Expects Turnover
For 2008 the German manufacturers of machinery and plants for electronics production still expect a turnover plus of five percent compared to last year. However, a general decrease in the total order value slows down the expectations to 2 percent growth for 2009. The broad feed back spectrum received shows the increasing uncertainty within the industry. This is the result of the brand new business climate survey.
