ARM Announces Cortex Microcontroller Software Interface Standard
ARM [(LSE: ARM); (Nasdaq: ARMH)] announced the availability of the ARM® Cortex[tm] Microcontroller Software Interface Standard (CMSIS), a vendor-independent hardware abstraction layer for the Cortex-M processor series. The CMSIS enables consistent and simple software interfaces to the processor for silicon vendors and middleware providers, simplifying software re-use, reducing the learning curve for new microcontroller developers and reducing the time to market for new devices.

Artila Electronics Unveils iPAC-5070 ARM9 Single Board Computer
Artila Electronics Co., Ltd announced their iPAC-5070, an ARM9-based single board computer with advanced data acquisition capability. The iPAC-5070 integrates low power ARM9 SoC, isolated digital and analog I/O, 64MB SDRAM, and 16MB flash memory with a pre-installed Linux OS into a compact and DIN RAIL mountable module.

Digi Launches Digi Connect ME 9210 Linux Embedded Device Server
Digi International (NASDAQ: DGII) introduced the Digi Connect ME 9210 with Digi Embedded Linux. Digi Embedded Linux is the latest version of Linux optimized for development on Digi embedded modules and microcontrollers. About the size of a pair of dice, the high-performance Digi Connect ME 9210 is the smallest embedded device server available with Linux. This allows OEMs to easily add secure Ethernet connectivity using Linux in space-constrained devices.

Digi Unveils ConnectCore Wi-9P 9215 802.11a/b/g Embedded Core Module
Digi International (NASDAQ: DGII) introduced the ConnectCore[tm] Wi-9P 9215, the industry’s first 802.11a/b/g embedded core module for secure wireless networking and integrated application processing. Customers can now network their devices in the common 802.11b/g 2.4 GHz band or the uncrowded 802.11a 5 GHz band for improved reliability and performance. This makes it ideal for busy environments or for transmitting sensitive information such as financial transactions or patient records.

CSR Debuts BlueCore TouchLITE Bluetooth Remote Control Development Kit
CSR (LSE:CSR) announced BlueCore TouchLITE, a Bluetooth remote control development kit for automotive use based on CSR’s successful BlueCore technology. BlueCore TouchLITE allows manufacturers to include a Bluetooth remote control for navigation systems, in-car multimedia devices and MP3 players with little additional cost or development time. BlueCore TouchLITE supports Bluetooth v2.1, allowing two single batteries to last more than 500 days in a typical usage scenario.

GE Fanuc Introduces IMP20 Video Processing Mezzanine Card
GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms announced the IMP20 Video Processing Mezzanine Card. Designed to significantly increase the ease with which images from multiple sensors and cameras can be assimilated and interpreted, thus speeding reaction time and potentially saving lives, the IMP20 adds image fusion capabilities to the GE Fanuc ADEPT104 and AIM12 automatic video trackers. It allows the design of highly integrated, high performance graphics capabilities in any environment.

CAST Validates CASTcores for Mentor Graphic Precision FPGA Synthesis
Silicon Intellectual Property (IP) provider CAST, Inc. is working with Mentor Graphics® to ensure that users of the company’s FPGA synthesis design flow have a superior experience using CAST’s IP cores. Forty CASTcores have so far successfully undergone this evaluation and testing process, yielding excellent results using Mentor Graphics’ Precision® Synthesis FPGA tool.

Mentor Graphics Announces Printed Circuit Board Design Laboratory

Microchip, ON Semiconductor Continue Quest to Acquire Atmel
Microchip Technology Incorporated (NASDAQ: MCHP) and ON Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: ONNN) further commented on their proposal to acquire Atmel Corporation (NASDAQ:ATML) for $5.00 per share in cash, which represents a 52.4% premium to Atmel’s closing price on the last trading day before announcement of the proposal. Microchip also announced today that it intends to nominate a slate of highly qualified directors at Atmel’s next annual meeting of shareholders.
