TI Debuts TMS570F Dual Core, Floating Point Automotive Microcontroller
Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) introduced the TMS570F microcontroller (MCU), the industry’s first ARM® Cortex[tm]-R4F processor-based floating point, lock step dual-core automotive MCU. Based on two Cortex-R4F processors, the TMS570F MCUs were designed specifically for applications required to meet the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61508 SIL3 or ISO26262 ASIL D safety standards.
Freescale Unveils MMA7455L, MMA7456L 3-axis Digital Accelerometers
Freescale Semiconductor has introduced two advanced 3-axis digital accelerometers to help mobile device developers meet the demand for sleeker, more sophisticated portable electronics products. Based on Freescale’s proven micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) technology, the MMA7455L and MMA7456L accelerometers enable low power consumption and motion sensing within a small form factor, making them ideal for cell phones and portable media players.
Conexant, Xceive Develop PCTV Reference Designs
Conexant Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CNXT) and Xceive Corporation announced the availability of four jointly developed “PCTV” reference designs for worldwide markets. PCTV applications enable consumers to watch broadcast television programs on their personal computers. The new reference designs feature Conexant’s advanced broadcast audio/video (A/V) decoders and Xceive’s highly integrated silicon tuner. Renesas, NXP Expands MIFARE Contactless Licensing Agreement
NXP and Renesas Technology Corp. announced that they have expanded the licensing agreement on NXP’s MIFARE[tm] technology. This agreement is aiming to build momentum for the availability of advanced payment and Near Field Communication (NFC) offerings in contactless infrastructures. Renesas now has further access to NXP’s entire MIFARE family. MIFARE is the most widespread contactless technology worldwide, providing superior levels of performance, flexibility and security.
Northrop Upgrades B-2 Stealth Bomber Simulator with Independence 3500
Quantum3D, Inc. announced that Northrop Grumman Corporation has upgraded the image generator in its Pilot Evaluation Simulator(PES) for the B-2 stealth bomber. Northrop Grumman is leveraging Quantum3D’s Independence 3500 solution, an upgrade from its previous installation of the Independence 2500 in early-2005.
