Avnet Electronics Marketing Announces Video Technical Seminar Series
Avnet Electronics Marketing, an operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), has launched a new Video Technical Seminar Series featuring demonstrations on digital video systems development, high-performance analog technologies, and digital media processors from Texas Instruments (TI). Seminars are being offered at select Avnet locations throughout North America for $99 through October 23, 2008.

IBM, Mentor Graphics Team on 22nm Computational Lithography Solution
IBM (NYSE: IBM) and Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT) announced an agreement to jointly develop and distribute next-generation computational lithography (CL) software solutions to enhance the imaging capability of lithographic systems used in the manufacturing of integrated circuits at the 22 nanometer (nm) node and beyond. The agreement is part of IBM’s computation scaling initiative to create the industry’s first computationally-based process for production of 22nm semiconductors.

Automotive Sensor Market to Reach $18 Billion by 2015
The new Strategy Analytics study, “Automotive Sensor Demand Forecast 2006 to 2015,” predicts that the market for automotive sensors will reach $12.7 billion in 2008, a year-on-year growth of 6.5%. This analysis shows that planned vehicle safety, performance and feature enhancements will drive automotive sensor shipments to 3.9 billion units and be worth $18.1 billion in 2015.
