Chipworks Publishes Reverse Engineering Report on Toshiba TSV Technology
Chipworks announced the availability of a full reverse engineering report on Toshiba’s Through Silicon Via (TSV) technology. The analyzed device is an image sensor module, produced by Toshiba, and found inside a mobile phone. According to market research company Yole Developpement, “3-D TSV wafer level encapsulation technologies have the potential to impact as much as 70% of the CMOS image sensor market for camera cell phones by 2012.”

Atmel Introduces AT42QT1060 6-channel Touch Controller
Atmel® Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML), announced the AT42QT1060, a touch control chip that integrates 6 channels of touch sensing with the ability to drive up to 7 low current LEDs directly through a pulse width modulated (PWM) output function. The device operates from 5.5VDC down to 1.8VDC and consumes less than 1uA in standby mode to give long battery life; it comes in a tiny 4mm x 4mm MLF28 package, making it ideal for use in mobile phones and other handheld devices.

Texas Instruments Rolls Out DAC9881 Digital to Analog Converter
Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) introduced the industry’s highest accuracy digital-to-analog converter (DAC), which features 18-bit monotonic performance, +/-2 LSB integral nonlinearity (INL) and +/-1 LSB differential nonlinearity (DNL). Delivered in a small QFN-24 package, the DAC9881 enables customers to increase system performance and simplify designs in precision industrial applications such as automatic test equipment, instrumentation, process control, data acquisition and communications systems.
