IBM, NEC Team on Next-Generation Semiconductor Process Technology
IBM Corporation (NYSE:IBM) and NEC Electronics Corporation (TSE:6723) announced they have entered into a multi-year joint development agreement under which they will develop next-generation semiconductor process technology. Under the agreement, NEC Electronics will participate in a joint development project for the next-generation core CMOS process, at the 32-nm node, and in advanced fundamental research for leading-edge semiconductor technologies of the future.

Lanner Electronics Rolls Out FW-8750 Network Appliance Platform
Lanner Electronics announced the launch of the latest product in its line of network appliance platforms and the first to support four-core Intel® Core[TM] 2 Quad CPUs – the FW-8750. The Lanner FW-8750 uses the Intel Q35 Express chipset and LGA 775 socket to support Core 2 Quad CPUs up to 3.16 GHz, providing faster, cooler and lower power operation for CPU-intensive network applications.

austriamicrosystems Announces Magnetic Encoder ICS for Motion Control
austriamicrosystems (SWX:AMS) expanded its magnetic sensor product portfolio to include the AS5304 and AS5306, two high performance linear Hall sensor ICs. The AS5304 and AS5306 ICs feature austriamicrosystems’ new line of magnetic encoders for linear and off axis motion sensing applications. The devices provide an easy-to-use, start & play solution for motion control applications as they require no configuration or calibration by the host controller after power up or during operation.

Opera, NVIDIA Team on Optimized Browser for Tegra Processors
NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA) and Opera Software (OSE: OPERA) are collaborating to bring the full desktop Web-browsing experience, including support for JavaScript, accelerated vector, and video content, to smartphones and mobile Internet devices. As a result, NVIDIA will offer an optimized Opera 9.5 browser in its suite of pre-integrated, in-house and third-party software for the NVIDIA® Tegra[tm] family of computer-on-chip Windows Mobile and Windows CE solutions.
