iSuppli Forecasts Automotive MEMS Sensor Market to Grow 12% CAGR
Driven by new government mandates, global shipments of automotive Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) sensors are expected to nearly double from 2006 to 2012, according to iSuppli Corp. iSuppli forecasts worldwide automotive MEMS sensor shipments will grow to 935.7 million units in 2012, rising at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 12 percent from 474.2 million units in 2006.
KLA-Tencor Debuts Surfscan SP2XP Monitor Wafer Defect Inspection System
KLA-Tencor Corporation (NASDAQ:KLAC) introduced the Surfscan® SP2XP, a new monitor-wafer inspection system for the integrated circuit (IC) market that builds upon the success of its sister tool with the same name, introduced last year for the wafer manufacturing market. The new Surfscan SP2XP features improved sensitivity to defects on silicon, poly and metal films and enhanced ability to sort defects by type and size, compared with its predecessor, the industry-leading Surfscan SP2.
Open SystemC Initiative Announces Chairman Ken Tallo
The Open SystemC Initiative (OSCI), an independent non-profit organization dedicated to defining and advancing SystemC, announced Ken Tallo as the elected Chairman, succeeding ST’s Alain Clouard. In addition, Serge Hustin of ST joined as a Director. No other changes were made to the OSCI board. The current officers are President Mike Meredith of Forte Design Systems; Executive Director Patrick Sheridan, CoWare; Secretary Paul Tauber of Coblentz, Patch, Duffy & Bass LLP; and Treasurer Stan Krolikoski, Cadence Design Systems.
