Atmel Debuts $399 AT91CAP7A-STK Starter Kit for ARM7 Microcontrollers
Atmel® Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML), announced its AT91CAP7A-STK Starter Kit for the evaluation of its ARM7[tm]-based CAP[tm] family of customizable microcontrollers. CAP7 customizable MCUs allow designers to migrate ARM7-plus-FPGA designs to a low-NRE, single-chip solution with approximately 30% lower unit costs, with eight times better performance, 98% less static power consumption, and 70% less active power consumption.

Artila Rolls Out M-508 Application Ready Linux Computer
Artila Electronics Co., Ltd., an emerging force in the embedded computer solutions field, announced their M-508 application-ready Linux computer. Artila’s M-508 comes with ATMEL ARM9 180MHz SoC, 64MB SDRAM, 32MB Flash memory, and I/O peripherals which include Ethernet, RS-232/422/485, programmable digital I/O, SD socket, and USB ports. Linux 2.6 and busybox utility are preinstalled in the Flash memory while the Gnu C/C++ cross compiler is ready for users to develop their own application software.

Evatronix NAND Flash Controller Features OCP Socket, BCH Algorithm
Evatronix SA announced the latest upgrade to its highly successful NAND Flash Controller IP core. Both BCH algorithm and OCP socket further facilitate the component’s implementation in various System-on-Chip (SoC) environments, as well as significantly reduce the IP core’s gate count while retaining its outstanding performance. Texas Instruments Drives IEEE 1149.7 Standard
Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) announced that it is driving the ratification of the IEEE 1149.7 standard, a new two-pin test and debug interface standard that supports half the number of pins of the IEEE 1149.1 technology, allowing developers to easily test and debug products with complex digital circuitry, multiple CPUs and applications software in products such as mobile and handheld communication devices.

Teradyne Acquires Eagle Test Systems
Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE:TER) and Eagle Test Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:EGLT) announced that they have signed a definitive agreement under which Teradyne will acquire Eagle Test. Teradyne is a world leader in System-On-a-Chip (SOC) semiconductor test, while Eagle Test is a leading provider of analog, mixed-signal and radio frequency semiconductor test products. Under the terms of the agreement, Eagle Test shareholders will receive $15.65 per share in cash.

Avnet, Cypress Upgrade Xilinx Spartan-3A FPGA Evaluation Kit
Avnet, Inc. (NYSE:AVT) and Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE:CY) have upgraded the Spartan®-3A Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Evaluation Kit. The upgraded kit includes the addition of Cypress’ CY3217 (MiniProg) Programmer to the Xilinx Spartan-3A FPGA Evaluation Kit, which enables touch sensing capability, USB connectivity and analog programming. The kits, which were released May 15, are being offered exclusively from Avnet for $39.
