Staccato Launches Ripcord2 IC Family for WiMedia UWB, Wireless USB
Staccato Communications, an Ultra-Wideband (UWB) wireless technology pioneer and leader in Wireless USB from the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF), announced the availability of the Ripcord2[tm] family of single-chip, all-CMOS solutions targeted for WiMedia UWB and Wireless USB applications. This second-generation family is the industry’s first implementation utilizing 65nm CMOS process technology, and offers a quantum leap in power consumption, size and integration over existing solutions.

SDR Forum Gains Eight New Members
Eight organizations working within the advanced wireless market have recently joined the SDR Forum, bringing the total number of new members joining the Forum since its Technical Conference in November to 25. This growth represents a 20 percent increase in the Forum’s member organizations comprising world class business, government and technical leaders from around the world.

Semiconductor Chip Sales Grow by 7.6% to $22.2 Billion in July
Worldwide sales of semiconductors grew by 7.6 percent to $22.2 billion in July from July 2007 sales of $20.6 billion. Sales grew by 2.8 percent from June when sales were $21.6 billion. Year-to-date sales through July were $148.3 billion, an increase of 5 percent from the same period of 2007 when sales were $141.3 billion.

Ubiquisys Adopts JTAG Technologies Boundary Scan Test Solutions
Swindon UK-based femtocell vendor Ubiquisys is using JTAG Technologies’ boundary-scan test solutions for volume production of its ZoneGate product. The provision of the test solutions is the result of extensive collaboration between the two companies and, by providing test development services and systems for factory testing, JTAG Technologies was able to relieve the burden of developing structural PCB tests.
