e-con Announces Add-on Modules for SIRIUS PXA270 Reference Design
In this period of economic slowdown, where OEMs are looking for solutions which could speed up their product design, e-con Systems, an embedded product design services specialist, has come up with a host of add-on modules on top of its PXA270 reference design, SIRIUS. The company feels that these add on modules could save valuable time for the OEM, who otherwise would be spending considerable time in developing and testing the design and also validating the software.

Openmoko Publishes Schematics for Neo Mobile Phones
Openmoko announced that it has taken another step in opening its mobile platform to the development community by announcing it will publish the schematics for the Neo 1973 and Neo FreeRunner mobile phones. Openmoko broke with traditional mobile phone manufacturers by shipping its Neo 1973 and Neo FreeRunner mobile phones with a free and open source (FOSS) operating system and open applications, enabling developers to take the functionality of the phone well beyond the limited applications that commercial mobile phones can handle.

MAZeT Debuts MTI04C Multi-Channel Signal Amplifier as Naked Chip
The MTI04C signal amplifier has 4 TIA-based amplifier channels integrated on a naked chip. It makes it possible to amplify signals for multi-channel optical sensors, such as arrays or color sensors, while requiring only little space and ensuring high functionality. The ability to set the trans-impedance of the MTI04C to eight different levels offers the customer added scope to make adjustments in accordance with the application requirements, while at the same time giving the amplifier a higher dynamic range.

ABI Research Publishes Report on RF Power Semiconductor Devices
With the gradual decline of cellular/3G base station deployments, the market for RF power semiconductor devices will continue to see the erosion in revenues for that segment that has characterized recent years. Declining average selling prices, more efficient air interfaces, and the build-out of the infrastructure base are compounded, in their effect on revenues, by the shift to plastic packaging.

Vishay Rolls Out TOIM5232 Miniaturized Encoder/Decoder
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) continues to broaden its optoelectronics portfolio with the release of a new miniaturized encoder/decoder for serial infrared (IrDA®) wireless communication, the TOIM5232. The new device provides proper pulse shaping of RS-232 data signals for serial infrared (SIR) IrDA transceivers and supports data rates from 1.2kbit/s to 115.2kbit/s.

Vishay Unveils Hi-Rel COTS T97 Solid Tantalum Chip Capacitor
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced that has extented its TANTAMOUNT® Hi-Rel COTS T97 series to offer the industry’s first solid tantalum chip capacitor with a 63-V rating to meet derating requirements in +28-V power supply designs. Lacking alternatives for +28-V applications, until now designers have been forced to rely on 50-V tantalum capacitors, which are unable to meet derating requirements (both military and best-commercial-practices) of 50% of the rated voltage.
