Virage Logic Acquires Logic Non-Volatile Memory IP Unit from Impinj
Virage Logic Corporation (NASDAQ:VIRL) and Impinj, Inc. announced that Virage Logic has acquired Impinj’s logic non-volatile memory (NVM) intellectual property (IP) business for an aggregate purchase price of $5.2 million. The purchase extends Virage Logic’s embedded memory leadership position into the rapidly growing NVM market for standard CMOS processes.

Agilent Acquires MTS Systems’ Nano Instruments Business
Agilent Technologies Inc. announced that it has acquired the Nano Instruments business unit of MTS Systems Corp. The acquisition will strengthen Agilent’s portfolio of instrumentation for imaging, characterizing and quantifying nanomechanical material properties. Financial details were not disclosed. Based in Oak Ridge, Tenn., Nano Instruments is a leading supplier of nanoindentation systems and related equipment as well as supporting software.

IDT Announces Ultra Low Power Timing Devices for Ultra Mobile PC
IDT® (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; NASDAQ: IDTI) announced a family of ultra-low-power timing devices designed for use in ultra-mobile PCs (UMPCs). These ultra-low-power timing devices minimally require 1.5 volt power supply, as opposed to the 3.3 volts for standard timing devices, helping extend the battery life of the UMPC.

Renesas Rolls Out RQA0010, RQA0014 High Frequency Power MOSFETs
Renesas Technology America, Inc. introduced two new high-frequency power MOSFETs: the RQA0010 and RQA0014 transistors for use in the transmitter power amplifiers of handheld wireless products, including those that combine communication, information and multimedia capabilities. The semiconductor devices achieve the industry’s highest efficiency class and the high reliability characterized by a rating of ESD immunity level 41.

Flash-based LatticeXP2 Automotive FPGA Meets AEC-Q100 Standard
Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC) announced that automotive versions of its non-volatile 90nm Flash-based LatticeXP2[tm] FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Array) have been characterized and qualified to meet the certification requirements of the AEC-Q100 standard as defined by the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC). Production quantities of the new LA-LatticeXP2 devices will be available by the fourth quarter of 2008.

CoWare Model Library Supports ARM Cortex A8, R4 Processors

Laird Technologies, Inc. announced two new products in its T-pcm[tm] phase change line of thermal interface materials, T-pcm[tm] 670 and T-pcm 680[tm]. The new products are optimized for Intel’s Penryn Quad-core mobile processor. The unique material formulation softens at regular chip operating temperatures to fill the microscopic irregularities found in the surfaces of the microchip package and heat-sink.
