DSM Somos Impact Tests Rapid Prototyping Materials
As rapid prototyping (RP) moves closer toward direct manufacturing, stereolithography (SL) resin leader DSM Somos is working to increase industry awareness around the impact testing of SL resins for the better evaluation of material performance. At the 3DSUG conference, DSM Somos made the information tangible with live test demonstrations in which RP users were invited to put various materials up against Somos’ latest high-impact SL resin, DMX-SLT 100, in Gardner impact tests.

HeedSoft Licenses Nlview Visualization Engine, T-engine Schematic Generator
Concept Engineering announced that HeedSoft S.A.R.L. has signed an OEM license for Concept Engineering’s Nlview visualization engine and T-engine transistor-level schematic generator. Bundling Concept’s Nlview software family into the HeedSoft TLL tool gives design engineers detailed visual feedback about the performed translation process, enabling them to visualize the original transistor-level input circuits and the automatically abstracted, higher-level RTL descriptions.

MagnaChip Announces TA7502 Driver Chip for TFT-LCD Displays
MagnaChip Semiconductor Ltd. announced the launch of its driver chip (TA7502) for TFT-LCD displays. The TA7502 driver chip integrates QVGA resolution (320×240) and supports TFT-LCD displays that produce 262,144 colors. The new chip supports 18/16 bit bus interface, which increases the recording speed from MPU to DDRAM, resulting in a significant enhancement in processing time.

Dongbu HiTek Creates First 0.18-micron BCDMOS Process
Dongbu HiTek launched the industry’s first BCDMOS (Bipolar/CMOS/DMOS) process at the 0.18-micron node, thereby setting the stage for fabless companies to reduce the size of typical 0.35-micron BCDMOS solutions by up to 40 to 60 percent, and in many cases eliminate the need for multiple chips. Initial disclosures of the company’s new BCDMOS process were made last month at the International Symposium on Power Semiconductors and ICs in Orlando, Florida.
