Freescale, Virtutech Reveal Results of Embedded Developers Survey
An informal study of more than 200 embedded developers indicates that programmability challenges and the prospects of longer development cycles might be affecting the adoption rate of embedded multicore technology. Conducted by Freescale Semiconductor and Virtutech, Inc., the study’s results also found that more engineers are looking to adopt virtualized software development (VSD) platforms for deeper insight into multicore architectures.

Altera Develops First 40nm FPGAs, HardCopy ASICs

The Stratix® IV FPGAs and HardCopy IV ASICs, both with transceivers options, provide unprecedented densities, performance and low-power leadership. The Stratix IV family has up to 680K logic elements (LEs), 2X bigger than Altera’s Stratix III family, currently the largest FPGAs on the market.

UPDM Group Forms for Unified Profile for DoDAF and MODAF
A new industry standards group – the UPDM Group – has been established to build on previous efforts within the Object Management Group (OMG) to develop a modeling standard that supports both the US Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and the UK’s Ministry of Defence Architecture Framework (MODAF). The modeling standard is called the Unified Profile for DoDAF and MODAF (UPDM).
