Touch International Acquires Specialized Industrial LCD Enhancements
Touch International, Inc. (TI) announced it has acquired the specialized industrial LCD enhancement assets from the Torrance, Calif. location of DuPont Display Enhancements, Inc., a subsidiary of DuPont. The company will now offer customers integrated touch screen, EMI filter and optically bonded display manufacturing and maintain operations at the Torrance site operating as Touch International Display Enhancements Corporation.
iSuppli Forecasts Photovoltaic Cells Industry to Grow to $22 Billion
Booming global demand for solar energy has spurred a critical shortage of polysilicon used to make Photovoltaic (PV) cells, causing PV suppliers to realign their business structures and strategies and to seek alternative raw materials. Global revenue for PV cells is projected to increase to as much as $22.1 billion in 2012, up from $9.6 billion in 2007, according to a preliminary forecast from iSuppli Corp.

The Strategy Analytics Handset Component Technologies service report, "NXP & ST Micro Wireless Merger Increases Pressure on Freescale, Infineon, MediaTek & Broadcom," analyzes the planned merger of wireless business units of NXP Semiconductors and ST Microelectronics and examines how this deal positions them relative to other cellular chip vendors.
MindTree Offers CPF Flow, Joins Power Forward Initiative
MindTree Ltd., a global IT and R&D Services Company, and the Power Forward Initiative (PFI) announced that MindTree has joined the Power Forward Initiative and will be offering a Common Power Format (CPF)-enabled low-power flow to its design services customers. With the addition of MindTree, the PFI continues to increase its momentum and now has 27 members.
