Tektronix Spectrum Analyzers, LitePoint RSALTE Support 3.9G LTE
Tektronix, Inc., a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, and LitePoint Corporation, a provider of wireless test system solutions, announced their collaborative solution to LTE product development. LitePoint’s RSALTE software is designed to run on Tektronix RSA3000A/B and RSA6100A real-time spectrum analyzers, and offers 3.9G compliance support for designers of UMTS-Long-Term Evolution (LTE) systems.

HVVi Develops New Architecture for Silicon RF Power Transistor Design
HVVi Semiconductors, Inc., a developer of power transistors, announced the first major advance in silicon RF power transistor design in more than 15 years. Based on the world’s first High Frequency, High Voltage Vertical Field Effect Transistor (HVVFET(TM)), HVVi’s new architecture delivers frequency bandwidth, voltage and power levels to radar and avionic applications that far exceed the capabilities of current bipolar and LDMOS technologies.

Hifn, Freescale Team on Storage Reference Design

Berkeley Design Automation Debuts Noise Analysis Tool for Analog, RF ICs
Berkeley Design Automation, Inc., provider of Precision Circuit Analysis technology for advanced analog and RF integrated circuits (ICs), announced the first comprehensive noise analysis tool for complex analog and RF circuits. The tool, called the Noise Analysis Option(tm), handles every type of complex analog and RF circuit, including all analog-to-digital converters, phase-locked loops (PLLs), DC:DC converters, frequency synthesizers, and voltage-controlled oscillators.

Profits Fall for Top 5 Handset Vendors
The Strategy Analytics Wireless Device Strategies service report, “Rich Media Specialists Increase Share Of Global $19 Billion Profits,” reveals falling profits for the traditional top five handset vendors. Their share of industry profits has fallen from 92% in 2004 to 84% in 2007. In addition, Global ASPs have fallen at a 7% CAGR through 2007. The market catalyst vendors realize ASPs that are on average 250% higher than the industry average.

DOC Group, OW2 Consortium Merge CORBA Component Model Initiatives
