Mentor Graphics Adds IP-XACT 1.4 Support to Platform Express
Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT) announced the immediate availability of a new version of Platform Express(tm) with full support for the IP-XACT 1.4 IP databook specification, new mixed-level RTL and ESL design capabilities, and a new portable generator format. The IP-XACT 1.4 IP databook format, standardized by The SPIRIT Consortium, offers a universal method to describe IP for Design Reuse, and enables that IP to be automatically integrated into designs.

Ansoft Unveils v12 ofMaxwell, RMxprt v12 for Electromagnetic Devices
Ansoft Corporation (NASDAQ: ANST) announces Maxwell® v12 and RMxprt(TM) v12. Maxwell is the company’s electromagnetic field simulation software used for the design and analysis of 3D/2D structures, such as motors, actuators, transformers and other electric and electromechanical devices common to automotive, military/aerospace and industrial systems. RMxprt is a specialized software program dedicated to the design of electric machines.

AMD Announces CodeSleuth Open Source Eclipse Plug-In for Java
AMD (NYSE: AMD) announced a new plug-in that provides the Eclipse community with increased performance management and monitoring of Java software code. Called “CodeSleuth,” this new plug-in delivers the functionality of AMD’s CodeAnalyst Performance Analyzer, a powerful suite of tools that analyze software performance on AMD processors, including Quad-Core AMD Opteron(tm) processors.

eASIC Launches FPGA Cost Reduction Program
eASIC Corporation, a provider of zero-mask charge ASIC devices, announced the first phase of a worldwide program that is aimed at ushering in a new era of affordable silicon customization. The first step in this far-reaching program is to assist companies that are hampered by high FPGA unit costs to set more aggressive market pricing for their end products. The initial targets of this FPGA cost reduction program are the low density FPGAs.

Numenta Announces Hierarchical Temporal Memory Developer Workshop
Numenta is pleased to announce the inaugural Numenta HTM Workshop, a developer workshop dedicated to exploring Hierarchical Temporal Memory (HTM) and the Numenta Platform for Intelligent Computing (NuPIC). The workshop will begin with an evening reception on June 23, 2008, and will continue on June 24, 2008. NuPIC is a new computing platform that implements a hierarchical temporal memory system (HTM) modeled after the human neocortex.

Willamette HDL Announces Open Verification Methodology Training
Willamette HDL, Inc., a leading provider of system-level design and verification training, has expanded its training course offerings to include classes on the Open Verification Methodology (OVM) for SystemVerilog. The three-day course, available through Mentor Graphics Corporation Education Services and Willamette HDL, includes a mix of lectures and hands-on lab exercises. The first class was held February 4, with 12 more scheduled through February and March.

iPhone Mobile Browser Ranks First in US, Second in UK
iPhone is the number two Internet mobile browser in the UK and number one in the US, according to StatCounter, which provides organisations and individuals with a free website visitor statistics tool. On the mobile browsing front, iPhone took 0.06% of the total Internet browser market in the UK in March, behind Nokia which had 0.15%, according to StatCounter which tracks in excess of nine billion pageloads per month over its network of two million websites.

AMCC, Mentor Graphics, VNU-HCM Team on Electronic Design Education
Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq:MENT) signed a three-way agreement with Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC) and Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) to collaborate on the development and delivery of educational courses for two new electronic design laboratories. Under the auspices of the Mentor’s Higher Education Program (HEP), Mentor will donate more than $20M worth of electronic design automation (EDA) software and support.
