Renesas Rolls Out H8S/2164, H8S/2153 H8S Microcontrollers
Renesas Technology America, Inc. announced the addition of two new devices to the popular H8S series of 16-bit microcontrollers (MCUs): the H8S/2164 and H8S/2153, which are tailored for use in servers and advanced communication equipment. Specifically, the H8S/2164 device is a second-generation device aimed at baseboard management controller (BMC) applications, while the H8S/2153 is ideal for communications equipment such as ATCA, µTCA, and AMC management controllers.

TI Creates TPS62270 Synchronous DC/DC Converter for Portable Designs
Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) introduced a space-saving, 400-mA step-down converter for portable designs. The 95-percent efficient converter extends battery life in mobile phones, portable navigation systems and low-power DSP and microcontroller applications.

ON Semiconductor Debuts XPressArray-II Structured ASIC for Mil-Aero
ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq:ONNN) has announced that XPressArray-II (XPA-II), a structured ASIC technology formerly offered by AMI Semiconductor, is now available for military specification operating temperatures (as the M-XPA-II Family). By providing operation across the full military operating temperature range, XPA-II provides military and aerospace manufacturers with a cost-effective route to creating leading-edge ASICs and FPGA-to-ASIC conversions.

National Instruments Unveils M Series Multifunction USB DAQ Devices
National Instruments (Nasdaq: NATI) announced a new line of M Series USB data acquisition (DAQ) devices with 18-bit analog input accuracy at sampling rates up to 625 kS/s. The NI USB-6281 and USB-6289 feature an 18-bit ADC, which provides a 4X increase in resolution over traditional 16-bit devices, equivalent to more than 5½ digits of resolution for DC measurements. These devices offer enhanced analog output channels that feature programmable range and offset settings.

National Instruments Announces C Series Data Logging Modules
National Instruments (Nasdaq: NATI) announced four new C Series modules for data-logging applications including vibration/acoustical data logging and in-vehicle, structural, temperature and pressure testing. The NI USB-9219, USB-9229 and USB-9239 provide USB, bus-powered connectivity to the C Series while the NI 9234 AC/DC-coupled dynamic signal acquisition module offers selectable IEPE signal conditioning for engineers measuring high-accuracy audio frequency.

VMETRO Introduces MM-5453CN Battery Backed Umem NVRAM Card
VMETRO announced the latest member of the Umem NVRAM product line, the MM-5453CN, which is a low-profile, half-length PCI card with a PCI Express x4 interface for use by OEMs in enterprise-class server and storage appliances. The MM-5453CN is targeted at Tier I/II OEM customers with NAS, SAN management, virtualization, disk-based backup and continuous data protection applications.

GrammaTech Debuts CodeSonar Enterprise for Common Weakness Enumeration
GrammaTech, Inc., a leading provider of source-code analysis tools, declared that CodeSonar Enterprise is the first static-analysis tool that is compatible with all aspects of MITRE’s Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE) standard.
