Artila Unveils Matrix-514 Linux Ready Industrial Embedded Computer
Artila Electronics Co., Ltd., an emerging force in the embedded computer solutions field, announced their Matrix-514 Linux-ready industrial embedded computer. Powered by a 180MHz ATMEL AT91RM9200 ARM9 RISC CPU, onboard 64MB SDRAM, and 16MB Flash memory with Linux 2.6 OS pre-installed, the Matrix-514 provides four independent 10/100Mbps Ethernet ports, four RS-232/422/485 serial ports, two USB 2.0 ports, and 21 programmable digital I/Os.

Silicon Labs Creates Lowest Voltage Microcontrollers
Silicon Laboratories Inc. (NASDAQ: SLAB) announced the industry’s first microcontrollers (MCUs) capable of operating down to 0.9 V, enabling portable devices to derive power from a single-cell battery. The C8051F9xx family’s novel 8-bit architecture with an integrated high-efficiency dc-dc boost converter, which can supply up to 65 mW of power for both internal MCU use and to drive other components, creates a true single-cell battery system solution.

ADENEO Announces Free Evaluation Versions of Dot Net Micro Framework
Adeneo, a Microsoft Windows Embedded Partner Program Gold member, announced the availability of free evaluation version of its Dot Net Micro Framework ports. These evaluation versions can be downloaded directly from Adeneo website. Vitesse Offers VScope Embedded Waveform Viewing for Optical Transport

IMEC Announces 24.7% Conversion Efficiency for GaAs Solar Cells on Ge
IMEC has realized a single-junction GaAs solar cell on a Ge substrate with a record conversion efficiency of 24.7 percent. The efficiency was measured and confirmed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, USA (NREL). GaAs solar cells are used in satellite solar panels and earth-based solar concentrators.
