Si2′s Low Power Coalition Publishes Common Power Format Roadmap
Silicon Integration Initiative (Si2) published the Low Power Coalition’s (LPC) approved Roadmap for Common Power Format (CPF) extensions planned out through mid-2009, along with a Request for Technology (RTF) to support the CPF extensions as well as power/design flow-related requirements. This announcement underscores the vitality and relevance of the LPC work as it continues to evolve based on designer and end-user needs.

Catalyst Receives Patent for LED Current Bias Control
Catalyst Semiconductor, Inc. (NASDAQ:CATS) announced it has received a patent for a unique step-down switching regulator circuit architecture applicable to step-down regulators for driving high brightness LEDs. The patent, titled “LED current bias control using step-down regulator” (patent number 7,323,828), was developed to simplify the design of high brightness LED lighting in emerging household, commercial and automotive lighting applications.

XMOS Selects CoSy Compiler Development System for SDS
XMOS Semiconductor, the creator of Software Defined Silicon (SDS), is using the CoSy compiler development system from ACE Associated Compiler Experts in the development of the tool suite for its XCore(tm) processor. An event driven, multi-threaded processor, XCore is programmed using C and the XMOS originated XC language, which adds support for parallel processing, event driven control and time-driven programming models.
