Toshiba Creates Technology for Fastest Embedded DRAM
Toshiba Corporation announced that it has realized the world’s fastest circuit technology for embedded DRAM for System LSI, achieving a speed of 833MHz at 32Mb density. The technology will be applied to graphic processing LSI. The technology was introduced at the ISSCC (International Solid State Circuits Conference).

NEC, Kineto Announce Proposal for Rapid Femtocell Standardization
NEC Corporation (NEC) and Kineto Wireless announced their proposal for enabling the mobile industry to quickly define a standard for supporting the deployment of femtocells. The joint proposal, based on the existing 3GPP GAN (Generic Access Network) standard, has been contributed to the 3GPP standards body as part of a femtocell study currently in progress.

Digi Introduces ConnectPort X2 ZigBee-to-IP Gateway

Silicon Wafer Shipments Increase by 8% in 2007
Worldwide silicon wafer area shipments increased by 8 percent in 2007 when compared to 2006 area shipments according to the SEMI Silicon Manufacturers Group (SMG) in its year-end analysis of the silicon wafer industry. Revenues also grew by 21 percent in 2007 compared to 2006, as a result of 300 mm contributing to an overall better product mix.
